ESD payment shows 'paid' online but money not on debit card - WHY?
So frustrated right now! My weekly claim shows 'PAID' status on the ESD website since yesterday morning (I can literally see the payment amount of $823), but there's NOTHING on my ReliaCard. This is my 3rd payment and the first two went through fine with money showing up same day as the 'paid' status. I've tried calling ESD about 15 times today but can't get through to anyone. The automated system just says my payment was processed. Has anyone experienced this delay between ESD showing 'paid' and the money actually hitting their card? How long should I wait before panicking?

Really? That's a relief to hear! But there's no holiday this week that I know of. Did you end up calling anyone or it just showed up eventually?

There's often a 1-2 business day delay between when ESD processes the payment and when it hits your ReliaCard. The \

Thank you for explaining this! I didn't realize there were two separate processes. I'll try to be patient until tomorrow afternoon then.

I've been on unemployment for 5 months now and sometimes it takes a full 3 days to hit my card even tho the website says paid!!! Its so annoying especially when you have bills auto-drafted and you're counting on that money being there. The whole system is broken if you ask me. They should NEVER say PAID until the money is actually available to us!!!

I had this exact problem last week! Got so worried because I needed to pay rent. Mine took exactly 48 hours from when the website said

I didn't think to check the ReliaCard website directly! Just did that and you're right - there's a pending deposit showing there that doesn't appear in my card balance yet. That makes me feel so much better, thank you!

I've seen this happen when there's a discrepancy in your information between what ESD has and what US Bank (ReliaCard) has on file. Double-check that your address and other personal info is exactly the same in both systems. If there's any mismatch, payments can get held up in verification. Also, if this is only happening occasionally, it might just be normal processing delays that others mentioned.

That's good to know - I did move recently but I updated my address with both ESD and ReliaCard. I'll double check that everything matches exactly.

If you need to speak with an ESD agent about this (especially if the payment doesn't post within 3 business days), I highly recommend using Claimyr to get through to ESD. I was in the same boat last month and wasted days trying to call on my own. Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed my payment was actually stuck in a fraud review that didn't show on the website. The rep was able to release it right away. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 or go to claimyr.com. Definitely beats making 50+ calls trying to get through!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give it one more day, but if the money doesn't show up, I'll definitely try Claimyr. The video looks really straightforward - anything is better than constantly redialing ESD!

Does that service actually work? I tried calling ESD for THREE WEEKS last year about my adjudication issue. Never could get through.

@profile6 It worked for me twice. They basically wait on hold for you and call you when they reach an agent. Better than sitting on hold yourself for hours or constantly redialing.

Why don't you try direct deposit instead of ReliaCard? I switched to direct deposit to my checking account last year and payments come through much faster - usually same day as they show \

I didn't even realize that was an option! Will definitely look into switching to direct deposit. Thanks for the tip!

Just following up - did your payment arrive yet? If not, and it's been 3+ business days, you should definitely contact ESD as there might be a hold on your payment that isn't visible in your online account.

Yes! It finally showed up this morning - took exactly 2 business days from when the status changed to paid. Seems like this is just normal processing time between ESD and ReliaCard. Thanks everyone for the reassurance and advice! I'm definitely switching to direct deposit for future payments and saving that Claimyr contact info in case I have issues getting through to ESD in the future.
