ESD payment showing paid but not in my bank account yet - how long to wait?

I've been waiting forEVER for my unemployment to go through and finally at 4:00 a.m. today my eServices account updated from 'pending' to 'paid'!!! But I checked my bank account like 10 times today and still nothing has shown up. Do ESD payments take an extra day to hit your account? or should it be same-day once it says 'paid'? I'm trying not to panic but I've got rent due in 2 days and I really need this money to clear. Anyone know how long the delay usually is between when ESD marks it paid vs when it actually deposits?

Congrats on getting to paid status! It typically takes 24-48 hours for the money to hit your account after it changes to paid in the system. If you have direct deposit set up correctly, you should see it by tomorrow morning. Banking delays are normal, especially if it went to paid on a weekend or holiday.

Thank you!! That's a HUGE relief. I've been stressing so much. Will stop obsessively checking my account every 5 minutes lol

It depends on ur bank. Mine takes exactly 1 business day after it shows paid. So if it says paid Monday morning I get $ Tuesday morning. But my friend with a credit union gets it same day usually. What bank do u have?

Make sure that you entered your banking info correctly in eServices! I made a typo in my account number and my payment said

OMG that sounds like a nightmare. Just checked and my banking info is correct - has been the same since I first applied in February. Hoping it's just the normal delay everyone is mentioning!

DONT TRUST THE SYSTEM!! Even when it says paid they can still take it back! I had mine say paid for 2 weeks then suddenly they put me in adjudication and took back all the money saying I didn't report some earnings correctly! The whole ESD system is BROKEN!!!

While problems can happen, what you're describing is pretty rare. Once a payment shows as paid, it typically means it's been processed and approved. Adjudication usually happens before the paid status, not after.

Tell that to my bank account! They can and WILL take money back if they decide later you weren't eligible! happened to me AND my sister!!

If you need to reach ESD about any payment issues, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation where my payment was stuck and couldn't get through on the phone for days. Claimyr got me connected to an ESD agent in less than 30 minutes! They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Totally worth it when you're stressed about missing money that should be in your account.

Thanks for the tip! If my money doesn't show up tomorrow I might try that. Right now just hoping it's the normal processing delay everyone's talking about.

Has anyone else noticed that ESD payments come through faster now than they did a year ago? Last summer my payments would take 3-4 days after showing paid, but my last claim only took 1 day. Maybe they improved their processing systems?

Yes, ESD has made several improvements to their payment processing systems in 2024. The standard now is 24-48 hours for most banks, though some credit unions process them even faster. They've definitely gotten more efficient compared to the 3-4 day waits from previous years.

That's good to hear! Their website still says 'up to 3 business days' so they should probably update that information.

UPDATE: The money just hit my account this morning! So it took about 28 hours from when it changed to 'paid' in the ESD system until it actually showed up in my bank. SUCH a relief! Thanks everyone for the help and keeping me from completely freaking out!

Great news! That's the typical timeframe with most banks. Glad everything worked out as expected.
