ESD payment issued 3/21 but not in my account yet - when will direct deposit arrive?
Just got some positive news after weeks of stress! I filed my unemployment claim on February 27th, it went into adjudication for what felt like FOREVER, and today when I logged into my eServices account it shows my weekly benefits as PAID! Such a relief! However, I'm confused about when I'll actually receive the money in my bank account. The system shows a payment date of 3/21 (yesterday), but nothing has hit my checking account yet. Does anyone know how long it typically takes between when ESD marks it as paid and when the funds actually show up in your account? I've got rent due in a week and really need to know when I can expect this money. First-time claiming UI benefits so I'm not familiar with their payment timeline. Thanks!

It takes 1-3 business days usually for direct deposit after the paid date. If u have Bank of America it tends to be faster (like next day). With credit unions sometimes takes the full 3 days. Check ur account tomorrow morning it'll prob be there!!

The payment processing depends on your bank and whether you chose direct deposit or the ESD debit card option. For direct deposit, the funds typically appear in your account 24-48 hours after the paid date shown in eServices (excluding weekends and holidays). If you selected the debit card option, funds are usually available on the card the same day as the paid date. If your payment was processed on 3/21 and you have direct deposit, you should see it in your account by Monday 3/24 at the latest. If it doesn't appear by then, you may need to contact ESD to verify the deposit went to the correct account.

•I definitely selected direct deposit during my initial application. Good to know it should be there by Monday at the latest. Thank you for the detailed explanation!

mine said paid on a friday once and i didnt get it till tuesday!! the weekends don't count as business days so if your paid date was thursday you might not see it till monday or tuesday... super frustrating when you need the $$ right away

•Ugh, that's what I'm worried about. I was really hoping to have it by the weekend since I need to pay some urgent bills. Guess I'll have to wait until next week.

The ESD system is so inconsistent with deposits! I've had some weeks where the money shows up the very next day after the paid date, and other times where it took 3-4 business days with no explanation for the difference. Their computers must run these ancient batch processing jobs that depend on what time of day your claim gets approved. Here's a tip: if you need to contact ESD to ask about a missing payment (though it sounds like yours is just in the normal processing time), don't waste hours on hold. I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you get through to an ESD agent quickly. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. I used it when one of my payments got stuck in the system and was able to talk to someone within 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold all day.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a few more days, but if the payment doesn't show up by Tuesday, I'll definitely check out that service. Spending hours on hold is exactly what I want to avoid, especially since I need to focus on job hunting.

Important note: If this is your first payment after filing a new claim, it often takes slightly longer than subsequent payments. The first payment can take up to 3-4 business days while the banking information is verified in their system. After that initial payment, future weeks typically process faster (usually 1-2 business days). Also, make sure you continue filing your weekly claims even while waiting for the money to appear in your account. Many claimants make the mistake of thinking they don't need to file weekly once they're approved, but you must file each week you want benefits, even if payments from previous weeks haven't arrived yet.

•That's really good to know! Yes, this is my first payment since approval. And thanks for the reminder about continuing weekly claims - I actually wasn't sure if I needed to keep filing while waiting for the first payment to arrive.
