ESD direct deposit to Cash App - how long until UI payment arrives?
Hey everyone, I just restarted filing for unemployment after a 2-year break. My weekly claim status on eServices shows 'paid' from this Sunday's filing, but I haven't received anything in my Cash App account yet. I used Cash App for direct deposit this time instead of my old bank account (which I closed). Does anyone know how long ESD usually takes to deposit UI benefits to Cash App specifically? Is it different from regular bank accounts? Starting to get anxious since I've got rent coming up next week. Thanks for any help!

ESD direct deposits typically take 2-3 business days after your claim shows 'paid' status, regardless of which account you're using. Cash App should work the same as a regular bank for direct deposit purposes. If your claim was processed on Sunday and shows paid, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Make sure you've entered the correct routing and account numbers for your Cash App in the ESD system.

Thank you! That's reassuring. I double-checked and my Cash App routing/account info is correct in eServices. I'll wait until Thursday before panicking then.

That's good to know! Did you have any issues the first time you used Cash App with ESD? I'm hoping it all goes smoothly.

I HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS using Cash App with ESD!!! My first payment was completely lost and took 3 WEEKS to track down. ESD kept saying it was sent but Cash App showed NOTHING! Finally got it fixed but had to call ESD like 50 times!!! The system is BROKEN!!!

Oh no, that sounds awful! Did you ever figure out what the problem was? Was it something with your Cash App setup or ESD's system?

This isn't a common issue with Cash App and ESD. Most likely there was a specific problem with your account information or a one-time processing error. The vast majority of direct deposits to Cash App work normally, just as they would with traditional banks.

When I had trouble reaching ESD about my missing payments last month, I used Claimyr to get through to an agent right away. Saved me hours of redial hell. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - their website is claimyr.com. Agent explained that sometimes new payment methods take an extra processing cycle the first time, but was able to verify my payment was on the way.

Thanks for the tip! If my payment doesn't show up by Thursday I'll definitely need something like that. Getting through to ESD on the phone is impossible these days.

Btw make sure ur Cash App is fully verified with ur SSN and everything or ESD deposits can get rejected. Happened to my roommate and caused a huge headache.

I didn't even think about that! Just checked and my Cash App is verified, so hopefully that won't be an issue. Thanks for mentioning it though!

For ESD direct deposits, the official processing timeline is 24-72 hours after a claim shows paid status. However, the first payment to a new account sometimes takes an additional 24 hours for security verification. Cash App is considered a non-traditional financial institution, but it's fully supported by ESD's direct deposit system as long as it's properly verified and the correct routing/account information is provided.\n\nIf your payment doesn't arrive by the fourth business day after showing paid, you should contact ESD directly. They can verify if the payment was sent, rejected, or is still processing. Also, make sure you've completed your job search activities for each week (3 per week) to avoid any payment holds.

This is really helpful, thank you! I wasn't aware the first payment might take longer with a new account. And yes, I've been doing my job search activities and documenting them in my log. Fingers crossed everything arrives by Thursday!
