TWC website error when trying to pay overpayment due today - urgent help needed!
I've been trying to make a payment on my TWC overpayment for the past 3 days but keep getting error messages when trying to log into the website. I've already tried resetting my password yesterday but still get the same error. The overpayment is due TODAY and I'm seriously freaking out about late fees or other penalties if I can't make this payment on time! Has anyone dealt with this recently? Is there another way to make a payment besides the website? I tried calling but of course just got the busy signal over and over. Any help would be super appreciated!!

•It just says 'We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later.' I've tried on Chrome and Edge, and even on my phone. Still nothing works! 😫

When I had an overpayment last year, I found out you can make payments by mail using a check or money order. Send it to: Texas Workforce Commission Benefit Overpayment Collections P.O. Box 149352 Austin, TX 78714-9352 Make sure you include your name, last four of your SSN, and a note that it's for overpayment. The downside is it won't be received today, but if you document that you attempted to pay online and the system wasn't working, you might be able to appeal any late fees. Taking screenshots of the error message would be helpful.

•Thank you! I'll definitely mail a payment tomorrow as a backup. I've been taking screenshots of the errors. Do you know if there's a phone number specifically for the overpayment department that might not be as busy as the main line?

Oh man this makes me so mad!!! Their stupid website ALWAYS breaks when you need it most! And OF COURSE they'll still charge you late fees even though it's THEIR FAULT you can't pay on time! I had a similar issue last month and ended up having to fight with them for WEEKS to get the late fee removed. TWC is absolute garbage!!! 🤬🤬🤬

There's actually a direct number for Benefit Overpayment Collections: 512-936-3338. However, they're usually just as difficult to reach as the main TWC line. Since your payment is due today, I'd recommend documenting your attempts to pay online (with screenshots and dates/times) and sending a payment by mail as soon as possible. According to the TWC website, they generally give a 14-day grace period before assessing any additional penalties, though this isn't guaranteed. Also, have you tried accessing the payment system during non-peak hours? Early morning (before 8am) or late evening (after 7pm) sometimes has better results when the system is experiencing high traffic volume.

•Thank you for the direct number! I'll try calling first thing tomorrow morning. I did try at 6am this morning with no luck, but I'll try again late tonight too. Really appreciate the information about the grace period - that makes me feel a bit less panicked.

I was stuck in the same situation about 2 months ago, but I found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to a TWC agent in about 25 minutes instead of calling for days. I was skeptical at first but it actually worked - they basically keep calling TWC for you until they get through, then connect you. I used it to explain my payment system issues and the agent was able to note my account that I had attempted to pay on time. Check out their website claimyr.com or their video demo at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh to see how it works. Definitely saved me from late penalties.

•That's a really good idea! There's a Workforce center about 20 minutes from my house. I'll try to go there tomorrow morning if I still can't get through online tonight. Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up - sometimes these website errors happen when the system is trying to process your overpayment status. If you recently received the overpayment notice and it's in the "establishment phase," the payment system might not be fully set up yet, even if they gave you a due date. This happened to me and was very confusing. Make sure you document every attempt to pay, including screenshots of errors and notes about phone calls. If you do end up with a late fee, you can appeal it with this documentation and have a good chance of getting it removed. Good luck!

•Update: Success! I went to the local Workforce office this morning. The person there said their payment system actually WAS having issues but she was able to take my payment directly and give me a receipt. So relieved! They also put a note on my account that I tried to pay online repeatedly before the deadline. Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's such great news! I'm so glad you got it sorted out and got a receipt as proof. Going in person really does seem to be the most reliable way to handle TWC issues. Thanks for updating us - this will definitely help other people who run into the same problem!

So glad to see this worked out! This is exactly why I always recommend going to the local office when possible - their staff can usually handle things that the website can't, and you get that all-important paper trail with receipts. For anyone else reading this thread, definitely save those screenshots of error messages and keep detailed notes of when you tried to make payments. TWC's system has been having intermittent issues for months now, and having documentation really helps if you need to appeal any fees later. Thanks for sharing the update - it's really helpful for others dealing with similar situations!

•This is really helpful information! I'm bookmarking this thread in case I ever run into payment issues myself. It's good to know that the local offices can handle payments when the website fails, and that documenting everything is so important for appealing fees. QuantumQuest, I'm really happy you got it resolved! This whole situation shows how frustrating TWC's system can be, but at least there are workarounds when you know where to go.

This entire thread should be pinned as a resource! I've been lurking in this community for months and this is hands down the most helpful discussion I've seen about dealing with TWC's broken payment system. The step-by-step solutions everyone provided - from documenting errors with screenshots to the direct phone number for overpayment collections to the local office backup plan - this is like a complete troubleshooting guide. QuantumQuest, thanks for following up with your success story too! It really shows that persistence and knowing your options can get you through even when TWC's system fails you. I'm saving this thread for future reference and sharing it with friends who are dealing with unemployment issues. You all are lifesavers! 🙏
