TWC locked me out - stuck in 'late filing status' but 800-939-6631 never answers!
I'm seriously losing my mind trying to deal with this TWC mess. After the system maintenance last weekend, I couldn't log in to my account for 3 days. When I finally got back in yesterday, I got this scary message saying I'm in 'late filing status' and need to call (800) 939-6631 immediately to resolve it! I've called at least 30 times today - morning, afternoon, different times - and EVERY SINGLE TIME I get the automated message 'We apologize, we can't take your call right now.' I've tried the regular TWC number too but they just tell me I HAVE to call the special number. My rent is due next week and I'm freaking out because I haven't received a payment in 3 weeks. Has anyone dealt with this 'late filing status' issue? Any tricks to getting through on that impossible phone line?

•Did you ever get through? What happened with your claim? I'm so worried they're going to make me start the whole process over again...

The 'late filing status' usually happens when you miss submitting a payment request during your assigned window. When this happens, you have to call that specific number to get it reset. Unfortunately, that line is completely overwhelmed right now because of the new verification system they rolled out. There are three options to try: 1. Keep calling but try between 7:00-7:30am when they first open 2. Send a message through your TWC portal (though responses take 5-7 days) 3. Visit a local Workforce Solutions office in person if possible - they can sometimes help reset these issues

•Thank you for the explanation! I definitely didn't miss my filing window though - I've been super careful about that. It must be because of that system maintenance thing. I'll try the early morning calls tomorrow and maybe head to the workforce office if that doesn't work. Wish they would just let regular customer service handle these issues!

I was in the exact same situation a few weeks ago after the TWC system glitched during my payment request. After wasting days trying to call that number with no luck, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes. Saved me so much stress! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh The agent was able to remove the late filing status and process my payment request on the spot. The issue was resolved in one call.

•Thank you!!! Never heard of this service before. I'll check it out right now - at this point I'll try anything because I've wasted an entire day hitting redial.

•@profile8 It's not a scam - it's just a callback service that keeps dialing TWC for you. They don't ask for any of your unemployment information. They just connect you with TWC when they get through. Saved me days of frustration.

THE WHOLE TWC SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!!!! I've been dealing with these people for 5 months and it's ALWAYS something new. First they said my identity verification failed (it didn't), then they said I didn't complete work searches (I DID and uploaded proof), and now they're saying I have an "overpayment" from 2 YEARS AGO?!?!? That 800 number is a JOKE. I sat on hold for 4 hours last week only to get disconnected when someone finally picked up. They're doing this ON PURPOSE to discourage people from collecting benefits WE PAID INTO with our taxes!!!!

•That's exactly how I feel right now! Like they're just hoping I'll give up and go away. I've been paying taxes for 12 years and the one time I need help, I can't even talk to a human being. It's infuriating.

Have you tried calling your state representative's office? When I had a similar issue that I couldn't resolve for weeks, I finally called my state rep and their office has liaisons that work directly with TWC. They helped me get my issue fixed within 3 days.

•That's a great idea I hadn't thought of. Do you just call their regular office number? Did you have to provide any special documentation to them?

•Just called their main office and explained my situation. They took my contact info and TWC claim ID number, then had me sign a form authorizing them to inquire about my case. They have special channels to reach TWC staff that regular people don't have access to.

Update on the "late filing status" issue: TWC just posted on their website that there was a system error affecting accounts during the maintenance period. They're aware many people are getting the late filing message incorrectly. They recommend continuing to try the special number, but they're also working on a batch fix that should remove the late filing status for affected accounts within the next 2-3 business days. Keep checking your account daily to see if the status changes automatically.

•Thank you so much for this update! That makes me feel a little better knowing it's a known issue. I'll keep checking my account but will probably still try that Claimyr service tomorrow if nothing changes. I can't afford to wait 2-3 more days for my payment.

Did u try the telecenter nunber instead? Sometimes they can help u even tho they say to call the other one. I got locked out last year and had to call like 60 times before gettin thru but the regular TWC number helped me. Also make sure ur not blockin ur caller ID cuz i heard they dont answer private numbers anymore.

•Yes, I tried the telecenter but they told me they couldn't help with late filing status and I HAD to call the special number. I'll double-check my caller ID setting though - thanks for that tip!

Just wanted to update everyone on what finally worked for me. I tried the Claimyr service that someone recommended here, and I got through to TWC in about 30 minutes! The agent was super helpful and explained that my account got flagged during the system maintenance because I had logged in during the actual update window (totally my fault, I didn't read the maintenance notice). She removed the late filing status on the spot and processed my payment request. The agent said the payment should post within 2-3 business days. Such a relief! Thank you all for your suggestions - this forum saved my sanity!
