TWC phone lines always busy - can't get through to unemployment after 20+ attempts
I swear I'm about to lose my mind trying to reach TWC!! I've been calling every single day for a week straight, different times of day (morning, afternoon, evening) and ALWAYS get the same automated message saying 'due to high call volume we cannot take your call at this time.' Been unemployed for 3 weeks now after my restaurant closed with no warning. My claim is filed online but shows 'pending adjudication' and I NEED to talk to someone to fix whatever the issue is. The TWC website tells me nothing useful. My rent is due next week and I'm freaking out. How are y'all actually getting through to a real person? Is there some secret time to call or special number I don't know about??

•Seriously? I've been trying at like 8:30am thinking that was early enough. I'll set my alarm and try tomorrow at 6:59. Thank you!!

I was in the exact same situation last month - called for two weeks straight with no luck. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr. It's a service that basically holds your place in line and calls you when they get an agent on the phone. I was super skeptical at first but was desperate. The video on their site shows how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Took about 40 minutes but I actually got through and got my adjudication issue fixed that same day. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

•I've never heard of this but honestly at this point I'll try ANYTHING. 40 minutes sounds way better than the week I've wasted trying to get through. Going to check out the video right now, thanks!

•is this even legit? sounds sketchy to me. why would you pay for something when TWC is free?

The 'pending adjudication' status usually means there's a question about your separation from employment. The restaurant closure might qualify as a lack of work situation, but they probably need to verify details. Here are a few strategies for contacting TWC: 1. Try calling the Tele-Serv automated line at 800-558-8321 first and select option 2 to check your claim status. Sometimes this provides more info. 2. Use the TWC Unemployment Insurance web chat if available - it's less congested than the phone lines. 3. Contact your local Workforce Solutions office directly. They can sometimes help with basic issues or give you direct numbers. 4. Send a message through your TWC account portal - not as quick as a call but they usually respond within 5-7 business days. 5. Call exactly at 7:00am when they open or after 4:30pm when call volume decreases. Also make sure you're continuing to request payments on your scheduled days even while waiting for adjudication to be resolved.

•Thank you so much for all this detailed info! I did try the Tele-Serv number but it just says the same thing about pending adjudication. I'll definitely try the web chat and reaching out to my local office. And yes, I've been requesting payments even though I'm not getting anything yet - figured that was important.

THE PHONE SYSTEM IS RIGGED!!! This is EXACTLY how they save money - make it IMPOSSIBLE to actually talk to anyone so people give up!!! I had to call 67 times in one day before I got through. The whole "high call volume" thing is their excuse to understaff the call centers. They know exactly how many people are going to call every day and they DELIBERATELY don't hire enough people to answer. It's disgraceful how they treat us taxpayers when we actually need help. If you do get through, DEMAND to speak to a supervisor right away. The regular agents can't do anything to help with adjudication issues.

•This is so true. My brother works for a state agency (not TWC) and he said all these departments are understaffed on purpose to save money. It's not just during busy times - it's their normal operating procedure.

•67 times?!? That's insane. I'm only at like 20-something attempts so far. I'm definitely going to ask for a supervisor if I get through.

I had some success with calling the TWC Tele-Center in smaller cities instead of the main number. I got through to the Waco office last month when my claim was stuck in review. Took some googling to find the direct numbers though. Also, has anyone in your household applied for unemployment before? Sometimes you can find your assigned TWC office's direct number on old correspondence and those lines are less busy.

•That's a great idea! I never thought about trying to find local office numbers. No one in my household has applied before (I'm on my own) but I'll definitely try to find some local office numbers online. Thank you!

i use the 1-2-3 method. call, get rejected, hang up, redial instantly. repeat this fast like 10-15 times in a row. sometimes you break thru the system this way idk why

•Interesting trick! I'll give this a try too. Maybe it's like hitting a system glitch or something? Worth a shot!

Quick update on my situation - I did end up getting through by using Claimyr. The agent was able to see that my previous employer hadn't responded to TWC's request for information about my separation (totally their fault, not mine). Got it cleared up and my payment was approved about 3 days later. Just letting you know in case you're still having trouble.

•Thank you for the update! I tried calling at 6:59am and the 1-2-3 method but still no luck. I'm going to try the Claimyr service today because I'm getting desperate. I'll update here if it works for me too.

GUYS IT WORKED!! I finally got through to TWC! I ended up using that Claimyr service and got connected to an agent in about 30 minutes. Turns out my previous employer was disputing my claim saying I quit (which is completely false - they literally closed the restaurant with no notice). The TWC agent was able to update my file with my side of the story and said they'll be doing a follow-up with the employer. She said I should keep requesting payments and once they verify my information I should get backpay for all the weeks since I filed. What a relief! Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

•That's great news! Since your employer is contesting the claim, there still might be a determination interview scheduled, so keep an eye on your correspondence tab in your TWC account. Make sure you're available for that call if it happens. Glad you got some answers finally!

•So happy for you! Nothing worse than being stuck in limbo with bills piling up.
