Switched from website to Tele-Serv for TWC payment request - did it work or is something wrong?

I'm really stressing out about my payment request! I normally do everything through the TWC website, but my internet was acting up yesterday so I tried using Tele-Serv for the first time instead. The automated system walked me through everything and I thought it went fine, but at the end it just said to "contact TWC" without any confirmation. Now when I check the website today, it says "too early to request payment" and shows my next request date is the 29th. I'm completely confused - did my Tele-Serv request actually go through? Or did something mess up because I switched methods? Has anyone else had problems switching between the website and Tele-Serv for payment requests? What should I do now?

When it says "too early to request payment" and shows a future date (29th), that's actually a good sign. It means your payment request DID go through successfully! The system is just telling you that you can't request again until the 29th. If the request hadn't gone through, it would let you request payment now. Check your claim and payment status section - you should see your payment request listed there as pending or processed.

Omg thank you! I was panicking because it didn't give me any confirmation number like the website usually does. I'll check the payment status section now. Do you know how long it typically takes to process when you do it through Tele-Serv vs the website?

yea this happens ALL THE TIME. teleserv is weird and confusing compared to the website. the "contact twc" message is just a generic thing at the end of the call, doesnt mean theres a problem!

That's such a relief! They really should make that clearer. I was ready to spend all day trying to call them.

The EXACT same thing happened to me last month! I always use the website but tried Tele-Serv once and got super confused. The system is SO BADLY designed it's ridiculous!!! When it tells you to "contact TWC" at the end, that's just their standard message - not that there's actually a problem. If your request DIDN'T go through, the website would still let you request payment. The fact it says "too early" means your request was processed. BTW, I've had nothing but problems with TWC's phone lines. Always busy signals or getting disconnected after waiting 2+ hours. The whole system is designed to make people give up!!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's frustrating how unclear everything is. I was worried my benefits would be delayed because of this confusion.

I work with TWC claims frequently, and I can confirm what others have said - when the website shows "too early to request payment" with your next request date, it means your Tele-Serv request was successfully processed. The system won't let you request payment twice for the same period. A few additional points to help you: 1. Payment processing time is the same whether you use the website or Tele-Serv (typically 2-3 business days) 2. You can always verify your payment status by calling the Tele-Serv number and selecting option 2 for claim status 3. The TWC website is generally more reliable because it gives you confirmation numbers and detailed information 4. If you do need to switch between methods in the future, there's no issue doing so If you're ever unsure if your payment request went through, always check the payment status section of your online account first before trying to request again.

This is incredibly helpful information, thank you! I checked my payment status and it does show the request is pending. What a relief! I'll stick with the website when possible since it gives better confirmation, but it's good to know Tele-Serv works as a backup.

I had major issues contacting TWC last year when something went wrong with my claim. After spending days getting busy signals and disconnections, I finally found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an actual TWC representative within 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Might be worth keeping in mind if you ever need to actually speak with a TWC agent about your claim. In your current situation though, it sounds like your payment request did go through based on what others are saying about the "too early to request" message.

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that service in mind if I ever have a more serious issue. Thankfully it looks like this particular situation is resolved, but TWC is so hard to reach when you actually need them.

Does that service actually work? Seems kinda sketchy to me... has anyone else tried it?

It definitely worked for me. I was skeptical too but after trying for days to get through on my own, I was desperate. Got connected to a TWC agent who fixed my issue in one call. They basically use a system that keeps dialing until it gets through, then connects you.

I use Tele-Serv all the time and never use the website lol. I think the website is way more confusing! With Tele-Serv I just punch in my numbers and answer the questions and I'm done in like 3 minutes. Never had a problem with payments not going through. And yeah when it says "too early to request payment" that's actually GOOD news - means your request went through fine!

That's interesting! I've always found the website easier since I can see everything laid out. But I guess it's just what you're used to. Thanks for the reassurance!

wait i'm confused about something... i thought you can only do payment requests every two weeks? why would your next date be the 29th if you just did one? that seems really soon if you just filed a request.

The original poster didn't specify when they submitted their payment request. If they did it around the 15th-16th, then the 29th would be about two weeks later, which is the normal biweekly payment request schedule for Texas unemployment. The TWC system assigns specific filing days based on the last digit of your Social Security Number.

just remember to keep doing your work search activities even when the system is confusing!! my buddy got his benefits stopped because he thought his payment request didnt go thru so he didnt do his work searches that week. big mistake!!

That's a really good reminder, thank you! I've been keeping track of all my work search activities in a separate document just to be safe.

Quick update for anyone reading this thread in the future: As of January 2025, TWC has made some improvements to the Tele-Serv system. It now explicitly states "Your payment request has been successfully processed" at the end of a successful call, rather than just saying to contact TWC. This should help reduce confusion for claimants like the original poster who switch between the website and phone system.

That's GREAT news but it took them WAY too long to fix such an obvious problem!!! People have been confused by this for YEARS. Just shows how little they care about making the system user friendly.

I'm glad you got this sorted out! Reading through everyone's responses, it's clear that the "too early to request payment" message is actually confirmation that your Tele-Serv request worked. I've been using both the website and Tele-Serv interchangeably for months without any issues - they're both connected to the same system, so switching between them doesn't cause problems. One tip for future reference: if you ever want to double-check that your payment request went through, you can call the Tele-Serv number again and just listen to your claim status without submitting a new request. It'll tell you when your last payment request was processed. The website's payment history section is also really helpful for tracking this stuff!

This is such helpful advice! I had no idea you could call Tele-Serv just to check your status without submitting a new request. That would have saved me so much stress yesterday. I'll definitely use that feature in the future if I'm ever unsure again. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything so clearly!
