TWC system glitch not processing claims or allowing payment requests after January filing

Anyone else experiencing issues with the TWC system today? I submitted my unemployment claim yesterday (January 7th) but nothing's showing as processed or approved in my account. When I tried to request payment, the system says I have to wait until January 15th. What's weirder is that Tele-Serv is showing my last payment as December 19th, but won't let me request a new payment either. I've been trying to get through to TWC all morning but just keep getting the "we're too busy to handle your call" message. I'm starting to worry something's wrong with my claim. Is the system glitching out, or is this normal for January?

Sounds like the "two-week rule" is probably in effect. TWC requires you to wait two weeks between payment requests, so if your last payment shows as December 19th, you'd need to wait until at least January 2nd. But since you just filed yesterday, the system might be calculating your next request date from your filing date (Jan 7th) and adding a week, which gets you to Jan 15th. TWC systems always get wonky in early January - tons of new claims after holiday layoffs plus they do their system updates around new year.

Thanks for responding! But that's what's weird - I wasn't on unemployment in December. This is a brand new claim I just filed yesterday. So I'm confused why it's showing a December payment at all. Do you think maybe they mixed up my account with someone else's?

The system IS super glitchy right now! I filed on Jan 2nd and couldn't request payment until yesterday even though I should've been able to do it last week. When I finally got through, the agent told me they're having database syncing issues between the online portal and Tele-Serv. Apparently the December 19th date might be from an old claim if you've ever filed before, even years ago. The system sometimes pulls old data.

Ugh that's frustrating. I did have a claim back in 2023 so maybe that's why it's showing the old date. Did the agent say how long it would take for them to fix the syncing issue?

i had the EXACT same problem!!!! Filed jan 5, system saying wait till jan 14 for payment request. called 28 TIMES yesterday and couldnt get thru. this is ridiculous how are we supposed to pay bills

28 times?! That's crazy. Have you tried calling right when they open? I'm wondering if that might work better.

This is NORMAL for January unfortunately. TWC gets flooded with new claims after holiday season ends and their ancient system can't handle the load. I worked for a call center that handled TWC overflow calls a few years back, and January was always our busiest month by FAR. If you just filed yesterday, the Jan 15th date is actually correct. You file your initial claim, then you have to wait about a week before you can request your first payment. The Dec 19th date showing up is definitely a glitch though - probably pulling from old data or someone else's account. Best advice? Document EVERYTHING. Screenshot the errors, write down call times when you couldn't get through. If there's a delay in your payments because of their system issues, you can request backpay later if you have documentation.

Thanks for the insider info! I've been taking screenshots, so that's good to know. So you think the Jan 15th date is actually correct then? I should just wait until then to try requesting payment?

Yes, the Jan 15th date is most likely correct. When you file a new claim, TWC typically assigns your first payment request date about 7-10 days after filing. Since you filed on Jan 7th, Jan 15th fits that timeline. The system is telling you the right information about WHEN to request, but showing you incorrect history data about December.

i tried going to a workforce center in person to ask about this same issue (filed Jan 3, showing weird dates) and they told me they can't help with unemployment claims in person anymore?? had to go home and keep trying to call. total waste of time

The Workforce Centers haven't handled UI claims directly for years now! They only help with work search, resumes, and job applications. For actual TWC claim issues you HAVE to call or use the portal. It's super confusing and they don't make it clear anywhere.

I've been dealing with TWC for years (unfortunately lol) and January is ALWAYS a mess. I had the exact same issue last January where it was showing old payment dates from a previous claim. I found a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to TWC when this happened. Instead of calling and getting the busy signal over and over, they hold your place in line and call you back when they get a TWC agent on the line. Saved me literal hours of redialing. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Once I finally got through, the agent was able to fix the system glitch on my account in about 5 minutes. Turned out the system was pulling data from my 2022 claim and mixing it with my 2023 claim.

That sounds exactly like what's happening to me! Old claim data getting mixed with new. I'll check out that service - at this point I'd try anything to avoid calling 28 times like the other person here mentioned. Did it take long for them to get you through?

For me it took about 45 minutes, which was WAY better than the 3+ hours I spent the day before trying to get through on my own. The TWC agent said they're especially swamped right now because they're processing all the claims from people laid off right before the holidays plus dealing with system updates.

Another thing to check - make sure your ID.me verification is current. They started requiring everyone to reverify annually starting in 2024, and if your ID.me verification is expired or needs updating, it can cause weird glitches like showing old claim data or payment request dates being incorrect. The TWC system doesn't tell you clearly that this is the problem - it just shows strange errors.

Oh! I didn't even think about ID.me. I verified when I filed yesterday, but maybe it didn't sync properly with my account. I'll double-check that too. Thanks!

My mother-in-law is having the same issue right now. Filed last week, system keeps showing her last payment from 2020!! TWC definitely has a database problem right now mixing old and new claims. Waiting on hold with them now... going on 1 hour and 22 minutes...

UPDATE: I finally got through to TWC this morning! Called right when they opened at 7am. The rep confirmed there IS a glitch in their system where it's pulling old claim history for new claims filed in January. She fixed it on her end and now my account shows the correct info. My first payment request date IS supposed to be Jan 15th, so that part was correct. She said they're aware of the issue and working on it, but anyone experiencing this should call to have their account manually updated. Thanks everyone for your help!

thx for update!! gonna try calling at 7am tomorrow
