No TWC payments after 3 months of filing - need urgent contact number
I'm getting desperate here. I filed my TWC unemployment claim back on January 14th, 2025 (about 3 months ago) and have been diligently submitting my payment requests every two weeks as required. The system shows my requests as 'processed' but I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A SINGLE PAYMENT yet! My claim status just says 'under review' with no explanation. I've called the main TWC number literally 30+ times, always getting the dreaded busy signal or being disconnected after waiting for hours. Has anyone else experienced this payment delay nightmare? Is there a special number or trick to actually reach a human being at TWC? I've got bills piling up and I'm seriously worried about making rent next month.

Thanks for responding. Did you end up getting all your back payments eventually? It's just crazy that there's no explanation for the delay.

Your claim might have a pending issue that requires resolution. Common reasons for payment delays include:\n\n- Incomplete or inconsistent information in your application\n- Identity verification problems (especially if you haven't completed ID.me)\n- Question about your reason for separation from previous employment\n- Employer dispute about your eligibility\n- Missing work search activities\n\nThe most effective way to resolve this is speaking directly with a TWC representative. Try calling right when they open at 7am, or in the last hour before they close (usually between 5-6pm). Focus on the Tele-Center number: 800-939-6631.

I've definitely been doing my 3 work search activities every week and documenting them. I completed the ID.me verification when I first applied. Maybe it's something with my former employer? But wouldn't they tell me that somewhere in the system?

You are NEVER going to get through on the regular number!! They literally have millions of people calling and like 10 workers answering phones (ok maybe more but seriously it's impossible). I was in the exact same situation in February - stuck in review for 7 weeks!!! I was going INSANE trying to reach someone. Do you have a telecommunications history hold on your account? That's what was happening to me because I worked for AT&T for 2 months in 2023 even though that wasn't my last employer.

How do I check if I have a telecommunications hold? I didn't work for a phone company, but I was a customer service rep handling calls for an insurance company. Could that count as telecommunications?

Did you get any notification that your employer was contesting it? I keep checking my correspondence inbox and there's nothing explaining the delay.

Three months without payment is definitely concerning. When your claim is under review for that long, there's almost certainly an issue that requires manual intervention by a TWC examiner. The problem is getting through to someone who can actually help.\n\nI was in a similar situation last month and tried calling for weeks with no success. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent within about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh\n\nOnce I got through to someone, they found that my claim had a \

It worked for me. It's basically just a call service that helps you get through the phone maze and holds your place in line. The TWC phone system is just completely overwhelmed.

Thank you, I'll check this out. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might get me through to a real person. Did they tell you why you had a wage investigation flag?

Have you tried contacting your state representative's office? My sister was stuck in a similar situation for months and finally reached out to her rep. Their office has special contacts at TWC and got her issue resolved within a week. Worth a shot!

That's a great suggestion! I hadn't even thought of that. I'll look up my state rep's contact info right now.

This is exactly why the TWC system is such a joke. They expect us to fill out everything perfectly, do our work searches religiously, and follow every single rule to the letter - but then they can just sit on our claims for MONTHS without explanation while bills pile up!! How are we supposed to survive? I had a similar situation last year and it turned out they were

The silence is what's killing me. If they would just tell me what the hold-up is, at least I could try to address it. Did you ever figure out a good way to get through to them?

Thank you for the detailed checklist. I've double-checked all of these things multiple times. My payment method is definitely set up correctly (direct deposit), my contact info is current, and I haven't missed any payment requests. The status just says \

When I had payment delays last year I found out it was because my previous employer reported different wages than what I claimed. Took forever to resolve but I eventually got backpay for everything. Have you checked your wage statement to make sure everything looks correct? Sometimes even a small discrepancy can trigger a review.

Amina Sy
That's a good point. Where exactly do I find the wage statement? Is that the same as the monetary determination letter?

Natasha Ivanova
Yes, the Statement of Wages and Potential Benefit Amounts (also called the monetary determination letter) shows what wages TWC has on record for your base period. Compare those amounts with your own records from those quarters. Any significant differences could trigger an investigation that might delay payments.\n\nIf you do manage to get through to TWC, ask specifically if there's a wage investigation or employer response pending on your claim. Also ask them to check for any \

Thanks for that clarification. You're right - my county requires 3 work search activities per week, which I've been completing and documenting carefully. I'll check my monetary determination letter against my actual earnings and see if there are any discrepancies.

That's reassuring to hear. I'm hoping once I get through to someone, they'll release all the back payments. I'm just worried about how much longer this will take.

Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get through to TWC yet? If you're still having trouble, another option is to request an update through the TWC website's messaging system. Go to the Contact Us section and submit a specific question about your claim status. It's not as immediate as a phone call, but sometimes they do respond within a few days.\n\nAlso, be aware that certain issues can only be resolved by specific departments within TWC. For example, if your claim is under investigation for separation reasons, only an examiner from that department can release the hold - which is why getting the right person on the phone is so important.

I tried the messaging system twice in the past month with no response. I'm going to try calling again tomorrow morning right when they open, and if that doesn't work, I might try that Claimyr service you mentioned or contact my state rep's office. I'm almost 4 months without income now, and things are getting really critical. I appreciate everyone's suggestions and support.

I'm so sorry you're going through this - 3 months without payment is absolutely unacceptable. I had a similar experience last year where my claim was stuck "under review" for 10 weeks. What finally worked for me was calling the TWC number at exactly 7:00 AM when they open - I literally had my phone ready to dial right at 7:00:00. It took about 45 minutes on hold but I actually got through to someone who could see what was causing the delay. In my case, it turned out there was a "fact-finding" issue where they needed additional documentation about my job separation, but nobody had ever told me this! The agent was able to tell me exactly what they needed and how to submit it. Once I provided the missing info, my payments were released within 3 business days and I got all the back pay. Definitely try the early morning call strategy - it seems to be when their phone lines are least congested. Also ask the agent to walk you through your entire claim status so you know exactly what's holding things up. Don't let them just say "it's under review" - push for specifics about what department has it and what they're waiting for. Hang in there - you WILL get your payments eventually, and it should include all the back pay you're owed!

•Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This gives me hope that there's actually a specific issue that can be resolved once I get through to the right person. I'm definitely going to try the 7 AM strategy tomorrow - I'll set multiple alarms to make sure I'm dialing right at 7:00:00. The fact-finding issue you mentioned sounds exactly like what might be happening to me. It's so frustrating that they don't proactively tell you what's missing or what they need! I'm going to make sure to ask for specifics about what department has my claim and what exactly they're waiting for, rather than accepting a vague "under review" response. Did you have to submit the additional documentation through the website or mail it in? I want to be prepared in case they tell me I need to provide something.

•For the additional documentation, I was able to submit it through the TWC website using their document upload feature. The agent gave me specific instructions on what to upload and told me to include a reference number they provided in the filename. They said mailing documents takes much longer to process, so definitely use the online upload if possible. One tip - when you call at 7 AM, have a pen and paper ready to write down everything they tell you. The agent I spoke with gave me a lot of specific information about my case that I needed to reference later. Also, don't be afraid to ask them to repeat something if you didn't catch it - these calls are so precious when you finally get through! I really hope the early morning call works for you. The waiting and uncertainty is absolutely terrible, but once you get the right person who can see what's actually going on with your claim, things should move much faster.

I'm in almost the exact same situation! Filed in late January and still haven't received a single payment despite doing everything correctly - payment requests every two weeks, work search activities documented, ID verification completed, everything. My claim also just says "under review" with zero explanation. The phone situation is absolutely maddening. I've probably called 50+ times and either get a busy signal immediately or sit on hold for 2-3 hours just to get disconnected. It's like they designed the system to be as frustrating as possible. What's really getting to me is the complete lack of communication. How hard would it be for them to send an email or letter explaining what specific issue is causing the delay? Instead we're just left in limbo while bills pile up and stress levels go through the roof. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here - the 7 AM calling strategy and maybe contacting my state rep. This whole situation is just completely unacceptable when people are depending on these benefits to survive.

•I feel your frustration so much! It's incredibly stressful when you're doing everything right but the system just leaves you hanging with no explanation. The fact that both of us filed around the same time and are experiencing identical issues makes me wonder if there was some kind of processing backlog or system issue that affected claims from that period. Have you tried checking if there are any pending determinations or correspondence in your account that might give a clue about what's causing the delay? Sometimes there are hidden flags or issues that aren't immediately obvious from the main claim status page. I'm definitely going to try calling at exactly 7 AM tomorrow after reading Connor's success story. Maybe we should both try the same strategy and see if we can finally get some answers! It's ridiculous that we have to resort to these tactics just to find out what's wrong with our own claims. The lack of communication really is the worst part - they could easily send an automated message explaining common reasons for delays or at least acknowledge that longer review times are happening. Instead we're all left guessing and panicking about our financial situations. Let me know if you have any luck getting through to someone. We've got to stick together and share what works!

I'm dealing with the exact same nightmare! Filed my claim in mid-January and it's been 3+ months of absolutely nothing. What's driving me crazy is that I can see in my account that all my payment requests show as "processed" but there's never any actual money. Just this vague "under review" status that explains absolutely nothing. I've tried calling during different times of day, different days of the week - doesn't matter. Either immediate busy signal or I'll wait 2+ hours just to get cut off. It's like they have maybe 3 people answering phones for the entire state of Texas. The worst part is not knowing WHY it's delayed. Is it my employer disputing something? A paperwork issue? Identity verification problem? They give you zero information to work with. Meanwhile rent is due, utilities are getting shut off notices, and I'm burning through what little savings I had. I'm definitely going to try that 7 AM calling strategy tomorrow. At this point I'll try anything. Has anyone had luck with the TWC chat feature on their website, or is that just as useless as the phone system? This whole situation is just proof of how broken the unemployment system is. They expect us to jump through every hoop perfectly while they can just ignore us for months with no accountability.

•I'm so sorry you're going through this too - the frustration is absolutely overwhelming when you're left completely in the dark about what's causing the delay. The fact that your payment requests show as "processed" but no money comes through sounds exactly like what happens when there's some kind of hold or flag on your account that requires manual review. I haven't had much luck with the TWC chat feature - it's pretty limited and usually just gives you the same generic information you can find on their website. It can't access the specific details of your claim or tell you what's actually causing a delay. The phone representatives are really the only ones who can see the full picture of what's happening behind the scenes. Since you filed around the same time as several of us here, I'm starting to wonder if there was some kind of system issue or processing backlog that affected claims from mid-to-late January. It can't be a coincidence that we're all experiencing identical problems with similar timelines. Definitely try the 7 AM calling strategy - set multiple alarms and be ready to dial right at 7:00:00 sharp. Also consider reaching out to your state representative's office like others have suggested. They often have direct contacts at TWC who can actually get answers about what's holding up your claim. Hang in there - you're definitely not alone in this nightmare, and hopefully we can all get some resolution soon!
