TWC 'reviewing eligibility' message appearing on payment request page - should I be worried?

I've been requesting benefits for about a month now (5th request coming up), and I just noticed something weird on the payment request page. There's a note at the top saying TWC is 'reviewing my claim to see if I'm eligible' and that I should keep requesting benefits in case I become eligible. This message wasn't there for my first few requests. The strange thing is there's no message on my home page and nothing in my inbox about any issues with my claim. Is this just part of their system updates? Has anyone else seen this message recently? Starting to get worried since rent is due next week and I was counting on this payment.

I got the same message last week! I panicked at first too, but then my payment actually came through normally two days later. I think it might be related to their system update they did around the 14th of this month. TWC's website has been acting weird since then - my work search log wouldn't save properly either.

That's a relief to hear! So you just ignored the message and continued requesting as normal? Did you call TWC about it at all?

This is actually more common than you might think. What's happening is that TWC periodically reviews all active claims to verify continued eligibility - especially when you're approaching your 5th payment request. They check things like: 1. Whether your separation reason still qualifies 2. If you're meeting work search requirements (minimum 3 per week in Texas) 3. Whether any new information about your case has been reported As long as you've been accurately reporting your work search activities and any earnings, you should be fine. The message is automated and doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem with your specific claim. Keep requesting payments as scheduled - the worst thing you can do is miss a request period.

Thanks for the explanation! That makes sense. I've definitely been doing my work search activities and documenting everything carefully. I just got scared because the message suddenly appeared when it wasn't there before.

I had that message for THREE MONTHS straight and still got paid every two weeks!! TWC systems are a JOKE honestly. Don't stress about it unless you get an actual determination letter or your payment status changes to "denied" or something.

If you're worried about your claim, you should definitely try to contact TWC directly. I spent two weeks trying to get through on their phone lines with no luck - always busy signals or getting disconnected. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh The agent I spoke with confirmed that the review message is part of their normal process and doesn't indicate any specific issues with my claim. She also noted it in my file that I had called about it, which she said might help prevent delays. Worth considering if you're really anxious about your situation!

Is this service legit? I'm hesitant to use third-party services for unemployment stuff given all the scams out there...

Totally understand your concern! I was skeptical too, but it worked for me. They don't ask for any sensitive information like your SSN or PIN - they just help you get through the phone system. You still talk directly with an actual TWC agent.

I got that same message right before they hit me with an overpayment notice claiming I hadn't reported some income correctly. Double-check that all your previous payment requests were 100% accurate. They might be reviewing something specific in your case.

Oh no, now I'm worried again. I did work one day at a temp job during my second payment period, but I reported those earnings. Maybe I made a mistake on the form? I'll double-check my records.

Don't panic yet - while this can happen, it's equally likely the message is just part of routine review. If you reported your earnings, you should be fine. The important thing is that you were honest in your reporting. If there was an honest mistake in how you calculated or entered earnings, you can request a waiver if an overpayment is ever determined.

Just a heads up - I've been on unemployment three times over the years, and TWC often does these periodic reviews around the 4-6 week mark of your claim. They have automated systems that flag certain patterns for manual review, but in most cases, it's just making sure you're still qualified. The fact that you don't have any messages in your inbox is actually a good sign. When there's a real issue, they typically send a correspondence to your inbox about what needs to be addressed. Keep documenting your work search activities carefully - that's the most common reason for issues at this stage of a claim.

Update: I just completed my 5th payment request and the message was still there, but I checked my claim status afterward and it shows "payment processed" with an expected deposit date! Looks like it was just a standard review after all. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance!
