TWC suddenly stopped sending checks after only 2 payments - no explanation in inbox

So frustrated right now! I filed my initial TWC claim on October 6th and after waiting forever, my benefits finally started coming through on November 13th. I received exactly TWO checks and then they just... stopped?? The system used to tell me I was all set to get paid after making my payment request, but now it's saying something about "new week can't get benefit"??? I've checked my inbox on the TWC portal and there's NOTHING explaining why my payments suddenly stopped. No disqualification letters, no requests for additional info, absolutely zero communication. Has anyone else had their payments mysteriously stop like this? Did I miss something I was supposed to do? I can't afford to miss any more payments with rent coming up soon!

Ugh, the exact same thing happened to me last month! The system is sooo glitchy. Try looking under the "Determination Letters" section instead of the inbox. Sometimes they send important notices there but don't alert you. Also check if you missed a work search log submission - that tripped me up and my payments stopped without warning.

Thanks for the tip! I just checked Determination Letters and still nothing there. I've been submitting my work search activities every time (3 per week) so I don't think that's it. So frustrating that they can just cut off money people depend on without any explanation!

I only just started getting payments two weeks ago, so I definitely haven't hit maximum weeks yet. My benefit year should run until October 2026.

That "new week can't get benefit" message usually indicates one of three issues: 1. You've exhausted your regular UI benefits (but since you only received two payments, this isn't likely) 2. There's an eligibility issue that TWC is investigating (check for pending issues under the "Claim and Payment Status" section) 3. You may have reported earnings that were too high during your last payment request, which temporarily disqualified you I recommend checking the "Issues and Determinations" tab to see if there's anything pending. Sometimes these notifications don't appear in your inbox.

Thank you! I just checked the Issues and Determinations tab and found something about "earnings verification pending" from my last payment request. I did pick up a small side job and reported it, but I didn't think it was enough to disqualify me. Does that mean I need to wait for them to verify my earnings before payments resume?

Yes, that's exactly what's happening. When you report earnings, TWC sometimes puts a temporary hold on payments until they verify the amount you reported. This is especially common if it's the first time you've reported earnings during your claim period. They're supposed to send you a notification, but their system often fails to do that. You should keep filing your payment requests on schedule even while this is pending. Once they verify your earnings (which can take 1-3 weeks), they'll release any payments you're eligible for.

TWC IS THE WORST!!! They pull this crap all the time. They NEVER tell you when they put these "verification holds" on your account. Happened to me THREE TIMES and I had to figure it out myself each time. System is designed to DELAY paying people what they're owed!!!

I went through this exact situation back in August. The "earnings verification" can take forever if you just wait for them to process it. I spent DAYS trying to get through to TWC on the phone with no luck - constant busy signals and disconnections. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC representative in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to verify my earnings right away and release my payment hold. Check out their demo video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Worked way better than spending hours redialing TWC's number myself.

When you reported earnings on your last payment request, did you report gross earnings (before taxes) or net earnings (after taxes)? This is a common mistake that causes payment delays. TWC requires you to report GROSS earnings for the week in which you EARNED them, not when you got paid. Also, make sure you're answering the work search question correctly. You need to have completed at least 3 work search activities each week and be able to document them if asked. This is required even if you're working part-time and still eligible for partial benefits.

I reported the gross earnings for the week I actually worked ($245), not when I got paid. And yes, I've been doing my 3 work search activities every week and documenting them in detail. I didn't realize this earnings verification could hold things up so much - they really should make that clearer in their instructions.

You're doing everything right, then. This is just a standard verification process. A few things that might help speed things up: 1. Continue requesting payments on your regular schedule 2. Make sure your contact information is up-to-date in case they need to reach you 3. Check your determinations and correspondence daily 4. If it's not resolved within 10 business days, you should definitely try to speak with a representative Lastly, while you're waiting, make sure you're still fulfilling your work search requirements. Even during payment delays, you need to maintain eligibility by completing your 3 activities each week.

I forgot to do my work search one week last summer when I was sick and TWC cut me off completely! Had to appeal and everything. Don't make my mistake - keep doing those work searches even if payments are paused!

My brother had this same issue and it turned out he answered one of the questions wrong on his payment request form. The TWC website is so confusing with all those yes/no questions. Especially the one about being "able and available" to work - if you accidentally clicked no instead of yes, that would stop your benefits immediately. Maybe double-check your last payment request answers? Sometimes you can see your previous request responses in the system.

That's a good idea - I'll try to find my previous request answers. The questions are confusing sometimes, especially when you're working part-time. I'm pretty sure I answered everything correctly, but it's worth checking.

Anyone else notice that it takes SOOOO much longer for TWC to process things in 2025 compared to previous years? My friend filed last year and got approved in 2 weeks. I filed this year and it took 6 weeks! Their staffing must be cut to the bone.

YEP!!! They're doing it ON PURPOSE to save money by delaying claims. Less staff = slower processing = fewer people getting paid = more $ in TWC coffers. It's all about the $$$$

Based on everything you've shared, this sounds like a standard earnings verification hold. The good news is that if you're still eligible for partial benefits after they account for your part-time earnings, you'll receive back payments for any weeks that were delayed. In the meantime, continue to request payments on your regular schedule (every two weeks) and keep documenting your work search activities. If you don't see resolution within two weeks, getting through to a representative should be your priority. The earnings verification process typically shouldn't take more than 10-14 days.

Thank you all for your help! I'm going to keep filing my payment requests and documenting my work searches while I wait for this verification to process. If it's not resolved by next week, I'll try calling TWC directly (or use that Claimyr service if I can't get through). It's a relief to know I'm not alone in dealing with these frustrating delays.
