TWC payment claim showing zero after request - 8 days with no payment

Hey y'all, I'm really starting to worry here. I requested my first unemployment payment on March 26th (about 8 days ago), but haven't received anything. When I log into my TWC account, it just shows zero under payment amount. No pending status, no processing message, literally nothing. Just ZERO. Do I need to call them? Is this normal for first-time payments? I've got rent coming up and was really counting on this money being here by now. Anyone know how long first payments usually take to process? The confirmation page said 2-3 business days when I submitted the request.

First payments often take longer than regular ones. TWC has to verify your employment history and wage information before releasing funds. Check your correspondence inbox for any determination letters - they might need additional info from you that's holding things up. Did you get an approval letter before requesting payment?

Yeah I got the approval letter like 10 days ago. My correspondence inbox is empty except for that initial approval. No requests for more info or anything. Should I wait longer or try calling?

Seriously?? 6 weeks?? I can't wait that long! Did they at least backpay you for all those weeks once you got it fixed?

The same exact thing happened to me last month. My first payment request showed zero for almost 2 weeks. I tried calling TWC over and over but kept getting busy signals or disconnected. Then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to a TWC agent in about 20 minutes. The agent told me my claim had an identity verification flag that needed to be cleared manually. Once they fixed it, my payment was processed the next day. You can check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh or go to claimyr.com. Saved me so much frustration!

Thanks for sharing that resource. I've heard about Claimyr from others too. From what I understand, they basically help you skip the phone queue. Definitely worth it when you need to speak to someone urgently.

Zero can mean different things depending on where you're seeing it. If it's on the payment request confirmation page, that's normal. If it's on your claim and payment status page after several days, that could indicate an issue. Try checking your claim status on Tele-Serv (800-558-8321) as sometimes the website doesn't update as quickly as the phone system.

The WHOLE SYSTEM is broken!!! I've been dealing with TWC for months and every single time there's a new problem. First it was ID verification, then they couldn't verify my employer (even though I worked there for 5 YEARS), then random payment delays with ZERO explanation. They make everything SO COMPLICATED on purpose so people give up!!

I understand your frustration, but the system actually works well for most people. When there are complications like employer disputes or identity verification issues, it can take longer. Remember that TWC processes thousands of claims daily. For the original poster, I still recommend calling since it's been 8 days - that's longer than the standard processing time for an uncomplicated first payment.

A few things to check that might help identify the issue: 1. Verify all your work search activities were properly logged 2. Make sure you answered all questions correctly during the payment request (especially about any earnings during the claim period) 3. Check if your payment method is set up correctly (direct deposit or debit card) 4. Look for any pending issues on your claim status page If everything looks correct, you should definitely contact TWC directly. First payments sometimes have additional verification requirements that can cause delays, but 8 days is longer than typical for an uncomplicated claim.

Thanks for these suggestions. I double-checked everything and it all looks right. My bank info is correctly entered, I reported no earnings for that period (I was already laid off), and I logged my 3 work search activities. I guess I need to call them tomorrow.

One more thing to check - did you verify your identity through ID.me? That's required now for all new claims, and if you haven't completed that process, your payments will be held until you do. The link should have been in your initial claim confirmation emails.

Yes, I completed the ID.me verification before I even got approved. Got the confirmation email and everything. That's why this is so confusing - seems like I've done everything right!

Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring. Did your cousin have to call them or did the payment just show up eventually?

Just wanted to update - I got through to TWC this morning using that Claimyr service I mentioned. The agent found that there was a wage verification issue on my claim that was holding up my payment. They fixed it right away and said I should see the money in 2-3 business days! Such a relief!

UPDATE: Finally got through to TWC after trying for three days straight! Turns out there was a "pending verification" flag on my account because my former employer initially contested my claim but then withdrew their contest. The TWC rep cleared it manually and said my payment should process within 48 hours. She also said they're going to backdate it so I won't lose any money. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Great news! Thanks for updating us. This is a common situation - employer disputes, even when withdrawn, can cause those kinds of delays. Glad you got it resolved!
