TWC doubled my payment one week ($568) then nothing the next - payment schedule confusion
I'm totally confused about my TWC payment schedule now. For the past 6 weeks, I've been getting $284 deposited into my bank account every Tuesday like clockwork. But last week, they suddenly deposited $568 (exactly double) and then nothing at all this week. My payment request isn't due until next week according to my TWC account. Did they switch me from weekly to bi-weekly payments without telling me? Has this happened to anyone else? I'm worried something's wrong with my claim or that they'll think I made a mistake and hit me with an overpayment later. Should I call TWC about this or just wait and see what happens with my next payment request?

This is actually normal! TWC switched most claimants from weekly to biweekly payments back in January 2025 to streamline their system. You likely just hit the transition point. The $568 was to "catch you up" so they could move you to the new biweekly schedule. Your next payment will come after your next payment request (which should now be biweekly). You should have received an email notification about this change, but their notification system is notoriously unreliable. Check your correspondence inbox in your TWC account - there's probably a notice about the payment schedule change waiting there.

•Thank you so much for explaining! I just checked my correspondence inbox and found the notice - it was sent 3 weeks ago but I never saw it. You're right that it mentions the transition to biweekly payments. Such a relief to know nothing's wrong with my claim. I guess I need to adjust my budget planning now.

•Yeah I got the double payment too but my neighbor said he's still getting weekly. Is everyone getting switched or just some people?

BE CAREFUL! When this happened to me, it was actually because TWC was investigating my work search activities. They released two weeks at once after holding one, then nothing until I called. The system is so BROKEN! Half the time the agents don't even know what's happening with your claim. I had to call 47 TIMES before I got through to someone who actually knew what was going on!!

•Oh no, that's concerning. I've been really careful about logging all my work search activities (doing at least 3 per week). Nothing in my account shows any issues or investigations. Did you get any kind of notice when they were investigating you?

•No notice at all until AFTER my benefits were almost stopped completely! They claim they sent letters but NOTHING arrived. Always keep ALL your work search proof for at least a YEAR after your claim ends because they can audit you anytime!!

I was in the same boat and tried calling TWC about 20+ times to verify what was happening with the payment schedule change. Always busy signals or disconnections after waiting on hold forever. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to a TWC agent within about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed it was just the biweekly payment transition and everything was fine with my claim. Saved me days of stress and redial fatigue. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been considering calling just to confirm everything's okay, but was dreading the phone nightmare. I'll check out that service if I need to speak with someone.

•is that service legit? seems kinda sketchy that you have to pay just to talk to TWC

The biweekly payment transition is part of TWC's system modernization initiative that began rolling out in January 2025. The transition happens automatically at different times for different claimants based on your claim filing date. Here's what's important to know: 1. Your benefit amount hasn't changed, just the payment schedule 2. Payment requests will now be every two weeks instead of weekly 3. Work search requirements remain at 3 activities per week (so you'll need to report 6 activities each biweekly request) 4. The transition happens with a one-time double payment 5. Your payment request date will now fall on the same schedule as your biweekly payments If you didn't receive proper notification, you can request that a TWC representative resend your formal notice through your correspondence inbox for your records.

•Thx for explaining this so clearly! I got switched last month and was so confused. Quick question - does this change when we can request payment? Mine used to be every Sunday but now its every other Sunday.

•Yes, your payment request schedule will align with your new biweekly payment cycle. So if you were requesting every Sunday before, you'll now request every other Sunday. The TWC payment request calendar in your account should already be updated to show your new schedule.

wait do we still hav to do 3 work searches every week or can we do 6 every 2 weeks now?

•You still need to complete 3 work search activities EACH week (so 6 total for the biweekly period). Make sure you're keeping up with this - it's a common reason people get disqualified for benefits.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for the help! I found the notice in my correspondence inbox that explained the transition to biweekly payments. It was sent weeks ago but I never saw it. Mystery solved! Just sharing in case someone else has the same confusion in the future.

•Glad you got it figured out! TWC really should send text alerts for important changes like this. Their email notifications are terrible.
