TWC claim ineligible after missing work registration - how long to restore eligibility?

I messed up big time and didn't submit my work registration documentation on time, so TWC marked my claim as ineligible. I've been kicking myself over this mistake! I've now sent in the required work registration paperwork for the past two weeks (mailed it both times to make sure it got there), but my claim is still showing as ineligible online. Has anyone gone through this before? How long does TWC typically take to process these work registration forms and restore eligibility? Will I get backpay for the weeks I missed while they're processing my paperwork? I'm really stressing about bills piling up and need to know what timeline I'm looking at here.

I had almost the same issue last month. It took about 3 weeks after I submitted my work registration paperwork for my claim to change back to eligible status. Make sure you keep requesting payments even while your claim shows ineligible! If you don't keep up with the payment requests, you'll have a whole new problem to deal with. Also, did you submit through WorkInTexas.com or did you actually mail physical papers? Because electronic submission through their system is much faster for processing.

Thanks for the advice! I've been mailing physical forms because I was worried about the website not working properly (it kept giving me errors). Should I try the website instead for my next submission? And yes, I've still been doing my payment requests every two weeks even though it shows ineligible.

4+ weeks?! That's so long! Did you get paid for those weeks once they fixed it? I've tried calling but can't get through - just busy signals.

This happens more often than you'd think. The timeline for processing work registration corrections varies widely, but typically takes 2-4 weeks. Here's what you need to know: 1. Always register through WorkInTexas.com rather than mailing forms - it's processed much faster 2. Continue requesting payments every two weeks as scheduled 3. Keep detailed records of when you submitted your registration 4. You should be eligible for backpay once they update your status The most important thing is to keep requesting payments on your regular schedule. As long as you've now properly registered for work, those weeks should eventually be paid once they process your registration. The system flags your account for review when the work registration requirement is met after the deadline.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation! This helps a lot. I'll make sure to use WorkInTexas.com for my registration from now on. Do you know if calling them might speed up the process at all?

My cousin waited almost 5 weeks before they fixed his registration problem. TWC is so slow with everything!!

Yeah TWC is always behind. My neighbor waited 6 weeks and didnt get paid until she finally reached someone.

Let me tell you how RIDICULOUS this system is!! I had the EXACT same issue last year and it took them 7 WEEKS to fix it!!! All because some paper pusher couldn't be bothered to process my form! I kept sending my work registration in over and over and it didn't matter. The ONLY thing that worked was when I finally got through to an actual human who fixed it in 5 minutes. But good luck getting through on those phones - I called 87 TIMES in one day!!!

I was facing similar frustrations with the TWC phone lines last month. After getting busy signals for days, I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a TWC agent within about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh The agent was able to verify my work registration immediately and my status changed to eligible the next day. Definitely worth it after wasting so much time with busy signals.

Yes, it absolutely worked for me. I was skeptical at first too, but after wasting nearly two weeks trying to get through on my own, I was willing to try anything. The system put me in a callback queue and I got a call when a TWC agent was available. The agent was able to see that I had submitted my work registration and updated my claim status while I was on the phone.

To directly answer your original question: The standard processing time for work registration corrections is 2-4 weeks, but it can take longer during busy periods. However, speaking to an agent can resolve it immediately if they can verify your submission in their system. A few important technical points: 1. Work registration is required within 3 days of filing your initial claim 2. Failure to register makes your claim ineligible until corrected 3. Backdating eligibility is possible once registration is verified 4. The system requires manual review to restore eligibility Keep requesting payments during this period, as they can be released retroactively once your eligibility is restored. Also, make sure you're completing your 3 required work search activities each week, as these will be verified once your registration issue is resolved.

This is really helpful information, thank you! I've definitely learned my lesson about the importance of timely registration. I'll make sure to keep up with my work search activities and payment requests while I'm sorting this out.

Just want to add one more thing - when you do get through to someone (whether by calling directly or using a service), ask them to check if both your work registration AND your work search activities are properly recorded in the system. Sometimes one issue can mask another, and you want to make sure everything is properly documented so you don't face further delays.

This happened to my friend! They fixed her work registration but then found she was missing work search for one week and that caused more delays

UPDATE: I finally got through to TWC today! I used the Claimyr service after struggling for days to get through on my own. The agent confirmed they received both of my mailed registration forms, but they hadn't been processed yet. She was able to verify my work registration on the spot and said my claim should update to eligible within 48 hours. She also confirmed I'll get backpay for the missed weeks as long as I've been doing my regular payment requests (which I have). Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

That's great news! Glad you got it sorted out. Make sure you keep an eye on your claim status over the next few days to confirm it changes to eligible as they promised.

Awesome update! So glad the Claimyr service worked for you too. It's ridiculous how hard it is to get through to TWC on your own, but at least there are solutions that actually work. Hope your claim status updates quickly and you get those backpayments sorted out!

Congrats on getting it resolved! Your experience is a perfect example of why it's so important to speak directly with an agent when dealing with these registration issues. For anyone else reading this thread who might face similar problems, a few key takeaways: 1. Don't panic if your claim shows ineligible due to late work registration - it CAN be fixed 2. Keep doing your payment requests even while ineligible 3. Getting through to an agent (whether by persistent calling or using services like Claimyr) can resolve it immediately rather than waiting weeks for mail processing 4. Always verify that ALL your requirements are met when you speak to an agent - work registration AND work search activities Thanks for updating us with your resolution - it really helps other community members know what to expect and what actually works!
