TWC Unemployment: Claim stopped after missing 3 weeks - How to restart and reach a rep?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. It got stopped because I missed filing for 3 weeks in a row. I've been trying to get in touch with someone to see if I can restart it, but no luck. I've called like 50 times and still can't get through. Anyone know if it's possible to restart a claim after missing weeks? Or have any tips on how to actually reach a human being at the unemployment office?

I found a way to solve unemployment claim restart issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYTDiwajZuE

As someone who used to work for the unemployment office (quit cuz it was a nightmare), here's what you need to know: 1. Yes, you can usually restart a claim even if you missed weeks. It's called "reopening" a claim. 2. You'll probably need to explain why you missed those weeks. Have a good reason ready. 3. They might make you refile depending on how long it's been. Be prepared for that possibility. 4. When you do get through, ask about retroactive certification for the missed weeks. Sometimes they'll let you do it. 5. Be patient with the rep you talk to. We're overwhelmed and understaffed. Good luck!

This is super helpful, thank you! Any insider tips on the best time to call?

0 coins

Honestly, it's pretty random. But I'd say avoid Mondays and lunch hours if possible.

0 coins

Given your experience, any advice on common pitfalls to avoid during the call?

0 coins

Sending positive vibes your way, OP! Don't give up. You got this! 💪✨

A little positivity can make a huge difference. Keep pushing forward!

0 coins

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard thats the best time to get through. Also, try different days of the week. Mondays are usually the worst.

0 coins

Yeah, I've tried that. Even set my alarm for 5 minutes before they open. Still no luck 😭

Pro tip: use the Spanish line and then ask for an English speaker. Sometimes works!

0 coins

Also, I heard Tuesdays and Thursdays can be slightly better times.

guys. i just had a crazy idea. what if we all agreed on a specific time to STOP calling. like give their system a break. maybe then we could all get through easier? 🤔

0 coins

Bruh. That's... actually kinda brilliant. 🤯

0 coins

Good luck getting everyone to agree on that lol. People are desperate.

0 coins

Interesting concept, but coordination might be a nightmare.

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

0 coins

$20?? That's highway robbery! The government should make this easier for free!

0 coins

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Was desperate and took a chance.

0 coins

How long did you have to wait with this service?

0 coins

For anyone who can't afford it, maybe we should push for more accessible solutions.

0 coins

Has anyone tried faxing? I know it sounds ancient, but I heard some people have had success getting attention that way.

0 coins

what's a fax? 😂 jk jk

0 coins

I... don't even know where I'd find a fax machine in 2023 lol

0 coins

Maybe libraries or office supply stores still have them.

0 coins

guys i think i found a cheat code. if you press 0 repeatedly during the automated message sometimes it kicks you to a human. worked for me once!

0 coins

Gonna try this tomorrow! Thanks for the tip!

0 coins

This is like the Konami code for adulting 😂

0 coins

Sounds like it could be a lifesaver for many!

Plot twist: what if there are no actual humans working at EDD and it's all just an elaborate AI system designed to frustrate us? 🤖👽

0 coins

Dude, pass whatever you're smoking 🚬😂

0 coins

I mean... have you ever SEEN an EDD employee? 🤔 Just saying...

0 coins

A funny thought, but let's hope for a more optimistic reality!

0 coins

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken. I was in the same boat last year and it took me WEEKS to get through. Keep trying tho, eventually you'll get lucky!

0 coins

Same here! I think it's a test of perseverance at this point. Hang in there!

0 coins

Bro just give up. The system is rigged against us anyway. Time to join the revolution ✊😤

0 coins

Chill out, man. OP just needs help with their claim, not a call to arms lol

0 coins

Wake up sheeple! This is how they keep us down! 🐑🐑🐑

0 coins

While I get the frustration, focusing on solutions might be more beneficial.

0 coins

idk if this will help but I made a flow chart of the phone menu options. Might save you some time if you're gonna keep calling: 1 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 1 (for general questions) 1 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 2 > 2 (for payment issues) hope this helps someone!

0 coins

You're a legend for this! 🙌

0 coins

not all heroes wear capes 😂

0 coins

This flow chart might just save hours of frustration for many people!

0 coins

have u tried the online portal? sometimes u can restart claims there w/o calling

0 coins

I did, but it keeps giving me an error. Says I need to speak to a rep 😩

0 coins

classic EDD move 🙄 their website is from like 1995 i swear

0 coins

Same issue here. They should really modernize their online systems.

0 coins

Hey OP, sorry youre dealing with this. Its so frustrating. I had luck emailing my state representative. They have staff that can sometimes intervene and get things moving. Worth a shot!

0 coins

Great idea! Public officials can sometimes be very helpful in these cases.

0 coins

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all stop trying to game the system and just follow the rules, things would work better? Just saying...

0 coins

Ok boomer 🙄

0 coins

Found the EDD employee's burner account 👀

0 coins

Bruh, we ARE following the rules. The system is just broken af

0 coins

Fair point, but desperation often leads to desperate measures.

Claimyr sounds like a viable option if you're at the end of your rope, but remember, it's a paid service. While it can save time and frustration, it's important to weigh the cost against your current financial situation. For those needing immediate help, it could be worth it, but others might prefer exhaust other free methods first. Additionally, it's crucial to keep advocating for systemic improvements in how these services are delivered. If people feel the need to pay to navigate public services, it points to a larger failing in the system that needs addressing.

0 coins

Absolutely, let's push for better systems overall while using tools like Claimyr as a temporary fix.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a dystopian novel? Fighting to get basic support during a global crisis. What a time to be alive. 🙃

0 coins

For real. I keep waiting for the camera crew to jump out and tell us it's all been a sick reality show.

0 coins

Wait till you hear about the murder hornets arc of 2020 💀

0 coins

It's surreal, but we have to keep pushing for improvements.
