Will PA UC payments process normally during Christmas week if I file on Dec 22nd?

Hey everyone, I'm confused about the holiday schedule for PA unemployment payments. If I file my weekly claim on Sunday, December 22nd, 2025, will I still get paid on Tuesday the 24th (Christmas Eve)? Since Monday isn't technically a holiday, will the processing go through normally? Or should I expect delays because of Christmas? Really need to plan my budget for the holidays and don't want any surprises with timing. Thanks for any help!

Based on past years, if you file on Sunday the 22nd, the system processes claims on Monday the 23rd as usual, and direct deposits typically hit accounts on Tuesday the 24th. However, some banks may have different processing times during holiday weeks. The PA UC system itself should work normally since the 23rd is a regular business day. Just make sure you complete your work search activities before filing!

Thank you! That's a relief. I wasn't sure if the UC office might close early for Christmas Eve or something. And yes, I've been keeping up with my work search activities - learned that lesson the hard way last month!

THIS!!! The system gets so overwhelmed during holidays! I got stuck in pending for 2 weeks after New Years because of an "unexplained system error" and couldn't pay my January rent on time. The PA UC system is BROKEN around holidays. Don't expect anything to work normally!!!

Just to clarify some misinformation: The PA UC computer systems process claims on their normal schedule regardless of holidays. Monday the 23rd is a normal business day, so claims filed Sunday should process normally. However, banking systems might have different holiday hours affecting when funds appear in your account. What could create delays: 1. Filing late Sunday night (system maintenance) 2. Having an open issue on your claim 3. Your bank's processing schedule for the holidays For anyone who needs to speak with a UC representative about payment delays or other issues, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They can get you connected to the UC phone line without the endless busy signals. There's a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Saved me hours of frustration when I had a payment delay last Thanksgiving.

Ugh that's what I was afraid of. I really need it to come through on time for some last-minute Christmas shopping for my kids. Guess I'll have to have a backup plan just in case.

Just to add some official information: According to the PA UC website, the only holiday officially observed this month is Christmas Day (December 25th). The UC service centers are open normal hours on December 23rd and until 12pm on December 24th. So claims processing should happen normally on the 23rd, but if you need to speak with someone, best to do it early on the 24th or wait until the 26th.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I think I'll file early Sunday morning to be safe. And I might try that Claimyr service if I run into any issues - been hitting busy signals for weeks whenever I try to call about something else on my claim.

This is true! Money Network can be slower around holidays. I had a 2-day delay last year but my friend with direct deposit got hers on time. Something about how they batch the card loading process.
