PA UC payment after holiday Monday - will I get paid on Thursday?

Quick question about holiday payments for PA unemployment. I just filed my weekly claim yesterday (Sunday) as usual, but today (Monday) is a holiday. Does this mean my payment will be processed tomorrow and I'll receive it Thursday? Or does the holiday push everything back a day so I won't see the money until Friday? I really need to plan for some bills coming up. Thanks for any help!

Yes, with Monday being a holiday, your payment will likely arrive Thursday instead of Wednesday. PA UC usually processes claims filed on Sunday the next business day, which would be Tuesday in this case. Then it takes 1-2 business days for the payment to hit your account/card. Been claiming for 6 months now and this pattern is pretty consistent with holiday weeks.

Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know. I was getting nervous about making my car payment on time.

The holiday ALWAYS messes up my payments!!! Last Memorial Day my money was 3 DAYS LATE and nobody at UC would tell me what happened!!!! I spent HOURS calling and getting busy signals. The system is completely BROKEN!!!! Good luck getting your money on time!!!

That seems unusual. I've had delays but never 3 days. Did you have an open issue on your claim at that time? That would explain a longer delay beyond just the holiday processing.

When I had trouble getting through to PA UC during a holiday week, I used a service called Claimyr that got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending hours redialing. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 showing how it works. I was skeptical but it saved me so much frustration when I needed to confirm my payment status during a holiday week. Their website is claimyr.com if you need to talk to someone at UC about your payment timing.

does that really work? i tried calling like 30 times last week and couldnt get thru

Yes, it worked for me. I was connected to a PA UC rep in less than 25 minutes after spending two days trying on my own without success. Especially useful during holiday weeks when everyone's calling about payment delays.

Sometimes holiday payments actually come early! I once got paid Tuesday instead of Wednesday after a Monday holiday. Don't assume delay. The UC system is weird and unpredictable sometimes lol

This is incorrect information. PA UC payments are never processed faster due to holidays. They follow standard banking processes which can only be delayed by holidays, not expedited. Please don't give false hope about early payments.

According to the PA Office of Unemployment Compensation, with a Monday holiday, the payment processing cycle shifts by one business day. Claims filed Sunday get processed Tuesday, and direct deposit payments typically post Thursday. Money Network card deposits may take until Friday. This assumes no open issues on your claim and that you've completed all required work search activities for the week. The UC website (www.uc.pa.gov) usually posts holiday processing schedules under their announcements section.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I've completed all my work search activities and don't have any open issues, so hopefully it'll be Thursday as expected. I'll check the website for the holiday schedule too.

my cousin works at the unemployment office and she told me that sometimes they process everything on holiday mondays anyway, just depends on whos working that day lol so u might get it wednesday still

This is not accurate. The PA UC payment processing follows strict Treasury Department procedures. No payments are processed on state or federal holidays regardless of staffing. Please be careful about sharing unverified information that could cause confusion.

hey did u get ur payment on thursday? mine still hasnt come thru and im getting worried

Yes! It came through Thursday afternoon around 2pm. Hope yours shows up soon. Have you checked your payment history on the UC portal? Sometimes it shows as processed even if it hasn't hit your account yet.

@Emma Garcia - if your payment still hasn t'come through, you should definitely check your UC portal to see if there s'an issue holding up your claim. Sometimes they flag accounts for additional verification after holidays and don t'always notify you right away. If the portal shows processed "but" you still don t'have the money, it might be a bank/card issue rather than UC.

Just went through this exact same situation last month with the Presidents Day holiday. Filed Sunday night, Monday was the holiday, and my direct deposit hit Thursday morning around 10am. The processing definitely gets pushed back one business day when there's a Monday holiday, but it's pretty predictable once you know the pattern. Make sure to check your UC portal Wednesday evening - it should show as "processed" even though the money won't be in your account until Thursday.

That's really helpful to know about the Presidents Day pattern! I'm new to collecting UC and wasn't sure how the holiday timing worked. Good tip about checking the portal Wednesday evening - I'll definitely do that to ease my mind before Thursday. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I've been collecting UC for about 8 months now and holiday weeks always throw me off too! One thing I learned is that if you set up text alerts through the UC portal, they'll actually send you a notification when your payment is processed, which usually happens the day before it hits your account. It's saved me a lot of anxiety checking my bank balance constantly. The alerts are free and you can turn them on in your profile settings.

This is such a great tip! I had no idea about the text alerts feature. I'm going to set that up right now - it would definitely help with the anxiety of waiting for payments, especially during holiday weeks like this. Do you know if the alerts work for any payment issues too, or just when payments are successfully processed?
