PA UC weekly claim submission stuck with spinning PA logo - system frozen?

I'm having the weirdest issue with filing my weekly PA unemployment claim. Got all the way through answering the questions (work search activities, earnings, etc.) and clicked submit. Then that little square Pennsylvania logo started spinning...and it's STILL spinning an hour later! I've been afraid to refresh or close the window because I don't want to mess up my claim. Has this happened to anyone else? Is the system just being super slow today or is it actually frozen? I need this week's payment to cover rent due next Friday!

same thing happnd to me last week!! waited like 45 min then got tired and just closed it. had to start ALL over the next day. pa system is always down when u need it most smh

Ugh that's what I was afraid of! Did your payment still come through on time even though you had to redo it the next day?

This is a known issue with the PA UC portal when server traffic is high. Don't close the window! Take a screenshot of the spinning logo page with today's date/time visible somewhere on your screen as proof you attempted to file. Then try one of these fixes: 1. Try a different browser (Chrome works better than Firefox for PA UC) 2. Clear your browser cache and cookies 3. If it's still spinning after 2 hours, you can safely close and try again during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening) Your claim should still process eventually if all your info was entered before the spinning started. The system is just overwhelmed.

Thank you! Just took a screenshot like you suggested. I'll wait another hour and then try the different browser option. I really appreciate the help!

I had this happen THREE TIMES last month!! The PA unemployment website is absolute GARBAGE! They spend millions on "upgrades" and it's WORSE than before. I missed a payment deadline because of their stupid spinning logo and then had to appeal to get my money. RIDICULOUS!!!!!

While the system certainly has its issues, missing one weekly filing usually doesn't require a formal appeal. You can simply file for the missed week using the "file for a previous week" option as long as you're within the 2-week window. The official term is "backdating a weekly certification." Were there other issues with your claim that required the appeal process?

I've been on PA UC for a few months now after getting laid off from construction work and I learned you should always file weekly claims late at night (like 11pm) or super early morning (5-6am). Way fewer people online then and the system actually works. The middle of the day is when everyone tries to file and the servers can't handle it.

That makes sense. I'll try that approach next week. I'm still pretty new to unemployment - got laid off from my retail management position last month. Still getting used to all these quirks in the system.

After dealing with this exact spinning logo problem multiple times, I finally found a service called Claimyr that helped me actually reach someone at PA UC to fix my account issues. I was shocked when I actually got through to a live person! They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 that shows how it works. Their website is claimyr.com - seriously saved me from losing my mind trying to get my payment issues fixed.

Hey everyone I'm having a completely different problem with my claim but maybe someone can help? I got a letter saying I need to complete ID.me verification but when I click the link nothing happens? Does this have anything to do with the spinning logo issue? Sorry for hijacking this thread but I'm desperate!

That's actually a separate issue. The ID.me verification links sometimes don't work on certain browsers. Try using Chrome in incognito mode, or Edge browser. Also, make sure you're using the link directly from your dashboard, not from an email which could potentially be a phishing attempt. You'll need a driver's license or state ID and the ability to take a selfie for the verification process.

Update for everyone - PA UC just posted on their Twitter account that they're experiencing system delays today due to scheduled maintenance. They recommend waiting 2 hours and then trying again if your claim submission is still processing. They confirmed that claims started before 2pm today WILL be recorded even if you have to close your browser and restart.

Thank you so much for the update! That's a huge relief. I was able to get through using Chrome after waiting a couple hours. Got my confirmation number and everything. Really appreciate everyone's help here!

I'm dealing with this same spinning logo issue right now! Been waiting about 90 minutes and getting really stressed. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - it's reassuring to know I'm not alone and that the claim should still go through. I'm going to try the Chrome browser suggestion and wait it out. Really hope PA gets their act together with these system issues soon. We're all just trying to get by and pay our bills!

I feel your pain! I'm pretty new to dealing with all this unemployment stuff too and was totally panicking when this happened to me earlier today. The Chrome browser tip from @Ana Rusula really worked - I was able to get through after switching browsers and waiting about 2 hours total. Don t'give up! The system is definitely frustrating but your claim should process. Hang in there!

I just wanted to add that if anyone is still having the spinning logo issue, you can also try disabling browser extensions temporarily - sometimes ad blockers or privacy extensions interfere with the PA UC portal. I had this problem last month and turning off my extensions let the page load properly. Also, make sure you're not using a VPN if you have one running, as that can sometimes cause the system to think you're filing from out of state. Hope this helps someone!
