PA UC remaining $11 balance - Do I need to file one more weekly claim?
So I just filed my weekly claim yesterday thinking it was my last payment, but when I checked my balance today, it shows I still have $11.00 left on my claim! This is so confusing... does anyone know if I'm supposed to file again on Sunday just for this tiny $11 amount? Will the system even process such a small payment or will they just close my claim automatically? I don't want to mess anything up by either filing when I shouldn't or not filing when I should. My benefit year isn't over for another month, if that matters.

Yes, you should definitely file for that remaining $11. The system is designed to pay out your full entitlement, regardless of how small the amount is. Just file your weekly certification as normal on Sunday. After that payment processes, your claim will show a zero balance and be considered exhausted. Make sure you're still completing and documenting your work search activities for this final week too!

•Thanks for the quick response! I wasn't sure if there was like a minimum payment amount or something. I'll make sure to do my work searches and file on Sunday then.

•The system isn't designed to be logical lol. It's just following the rules exactly as programmed. I had $7 left on mine and spent 45 mins doing the weekly filing just for that tiny amount. PA UC does everything by the book no matter how ridiculous it seems!

This reminds me of when my claim ended last year and I had like $43 left. I called to ask about it and spent TWO HOURS on hold just to be told I needed to file one more week. The whole unemployment system is so inefficient!!! Anyway, yeah, you gotta claim that last bit.

•Two hours?! That's insane. I've been trying to call them about something else too and can't get through at all. The constant busy signals are driving me crazy.

I went through this exact situation in January. You absolutely need to file for that $11. The system won't automatically close your claim - you have to file until your balance hits $0. If you don't file for it, you'll essentially be leaving money on the table that you're entitled to. Also, once your balance hits zero, you'll want to file for a new benefit year if you're still unemployed. There's a specific process for transitioning between benefit years - it's not automatic. Check your dashboard for any notices about reapplying after you get that final payment.

•I'm actually starting a new job next week (finally!) so I won't need to reapply. But good to know about filing until zero - thanks!

Just to add one more thing - if you're having trouble reaching someone at PA UC to ask questions about your final payment or anything else, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I was stuck in the same frustrating loop of busy signals and disconnections, but their service got me connected to an actual UC agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 showing how it works. It was seriously worth it to finally get my questions answered and verify my last payment would process correctly. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I might try that if I keep having issues getting through. I've been trying to reach someone for days with no luck.

WAIT make sure you still do your work search requirements for that last week!!! I got hit with an overpayment notice because I thought "it's just $9 left, whatever" and didn't do my job searches for that tiny final payment. BIG MISTAKE! The system flagged me for not meeting requirements and I had to pay back EVERY PAYMENT from the previous 3 weeks!!! They said I violated the work search rules even though it was just for that last tiny payment!

•OMG that's terrifying! I'll definitely make sure to do my work searches. I've been keeping good records of all my job applications anyway, so I should be covered. Thanks for the warning!

Actually, I think there IS a minimum weekly benefit amount in PA - isn't it like $68 or something? So maybe you won't get that $11 after all? The system is probably just showing your remaining balance.

•That's not quite right. The minimum weekly benefit amount of $68 applies to how your claim is initially calculated, not to your final payment. Your final payment can be for any amount less than your weekly benefit rate. The system will pay whatever remaining balance you have, even if it's just $1.

By the way, make sure you're using your reference number when filing that final claim. I know it sounds obvious, but I accidentally used my old reference number from a previous benefit year when filing my last claim and it caused a huge mess. Double-check all your info before submitting!

•Good point - I'll double check everything. With my luck, one wrong entry would probably delay things by weeks!
