PA UC payment stuck at 'in progress' after determination approval - when will Money Network card get funded?
So I finally got my unemployment determination approved on 1/14/25 (after waiting forever!!) and I can see in my portal that taxes were withheld from my benefit amount. But it's been 3 days and the payment status is still showing as 'in progress' with no transaction number assigned. My benefit pay date just says 'in progress' too. I haven't received my Money Network card in the mail yet either, which I understand takes time, but I thought once approved the payment would at least process quickly? Does anyone know how much longer I might be waiting for the funds to actually be released to the card? I've got rent due next week and I'm starting to stress out...

Generally after a determination approval, it takes 2-3 business days for the funds to process and show a transaction number. Since you were just approved on 1/14, you're still within the normal timeframe. The Money Network card typically arrives 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed (not after approval). So you'll likely see the payment status change to 'paid' within the next day or so, and then expect the card 7-10 business days after that.

•Thank you!! That makes me feel better. Do you know if there's any way to track the card shipment once the payment goes through?

THEY ARE SO SLOW WITH EVERYTHING!!!! I waited almost TWO WEEKS after my determination before my payment actually processed. And then another 12 days for the card to show up. The system is BROKEN. The 'in progress' status is just their way of saying 'we'll get to it whenever we feel like it' 🤬

•Thanks for sharing your timeline! Did you get an email notification when it changed to paid or did you just have to keep checking?

If you're worried about not getting your money in time for rent, you can actually call the PA UC office directly and ask them to expedite your Money Network card. I was in the same situation last month and was freaking out about missing rent. I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a live agent at the unemployment office after trying for days with no luck. They got me connected within about 15 minutes when I'd been getting busy signals for days. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Once I got through, the agent was able to mark my card for expedited shipping, and I had it 3 days later. Honestly worth it when you're stressed about bills!

•Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to call them since yesterday and can't get through at all. I'll check out that service if I don't see a status change by tomorrow. Did they charge you extra for expediting the card?

A few important things to know about the Money Network card and payment process: 1. The 'in progress' status typically changes to 'paid' within 2-4 business days after determination approval. 2. Once it shows 'paid,' you'll see a transaction number and the funds are being processed for transfer to your card. 3. The Money Network card is mailed separately from your determination letter and typically arrives 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed. 4. You can check your payment status daily on your dashboard under 'Payment History.' 5. Important: Once you receive your card, you must activate it immediately by calling the number on the sticker and setting up your PIN. 6. After activation, you can create an online account at moneynetwork.com to manage your card, check balances, and set up direct deposit for future payments. Don't worry too much about the timing - this is all perfectly normal in the PA UC process.

•This is really helpful info, thank you! I'll keep checking my payment status daily. Is there any way to set up direct deposit to my bank account instead of using the Money Network card for future payments?

when i got approved back in october my payment said in progress for like 5 days and i was freaking out too but then it switched to paid overnight and i had no notification or anything. and then the card showed up about a week later. but the envelope was super plain and i almost threw it away thinking it was junk mail!!! so watch your mail carefully lol

•That's correct. The Money Network customer service number is 1-888-233-5916. You'll need to verify your identity with them, but they can tell you if a payment has been loaded onto a card that's been assigned to you, even before you receive the physical card in the mail.

Update: My payment status just changed to 'paid' this morning and now shows a transaction number! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Now I'll just keep an eye out for the card in the mail. Hopefully it comes before rent is due, but at least I know the money is on its way.

•Great news! Now that your payment shows 'paid' with a transaction number, you should receive your Money Network card within 7-10 business days. Remember to activate it immediately when it arrives. For future reference, once you have your card and online account set up, you can also choose direct deposit to your personal bank account for future payments if you prefer that over the card.
