PA UC payment approved with 1/5 date - how long until I actually receive funds?

Well FINALLY got some good news! After my claim sat in limbo since AUGUST (!!!), I just got notification that it was approved on Thursday. The system shows a payment date of 1/5, but I'm confused about when the money will actually hit my account. This is my first time on unemployment, and I've been surviving on credit cards for months waiting for this to get resolved. Does anyone know how long it typically takes from the listed payment date until the funds are actually available? I have the Money Network card if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

Congrats on finally getting approved! With the Money Network card, you'll typically see funds within 1-2 business days after the payment date. So if your payment date is 1/5, you'll likely have access to the money by 1/6 or 1/7, assuming no holidays or weekends get in the way. Just make sure you've activated your card and set up your PIN correctly.

Thank you! That's such a relief. Do the funds just automatically appear on the card? Or do I need to do something on my end to move them over?

When I got my first payment back in November it took 3 full business days to show up. The system said 11/14 payment date but the money wasn't actually on my card until 11/17. Be sure to check your balance on the Money Network app rather than the PA UC portal since the portal doesn't always update in real-time.

I didn't even know there was a Money Network app! Thanks for the tip - downloading it now.

Oh shoot - is that something separate from receiving the card? I got the card in the mail months ago but I don't remember if I did any special activation...

Just be aware that the first payment often takes longer than subsequent ones. Mine took nearly a week despite showing a

If you haven't already, you should call the Money Network customer service number on the back of your card to make sure your card is properly activated. Sometimes people assume it's active when it isn't. If you're having trouble reaching the PA UC office to verify your payment status (which is common), I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a service that can connect you directly to a UC agent without the endless busy signals. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. I used it after waiting weeks for a response about my payment issues, and got through to someone in under an hour.

Thanks for the tip! I just checked and my card is activated, thankfully. If I don't see the payment by Friday I might try that Claimyr service - at this point I'm too paranoid to assume anything will work correctly after waiting so long.

Anyone else notice the payments are taking FOREVER since the new year started?? I've been on UC since October and suddenly my regular payments are delayed by like 3-4 days compared to last year. Something is definitely going on with their system right now.

Yep, I've noticed delays too. My guess is they're updating systems for the new tax year or something. Classic PA UC to not communicate anything about it though...

Just to follow up on something important - once your payment appears on the Money Network card, be sure to either transfer it to your bank account or use the card directly. Some people don't realize that leaving the money on the card for too long can result in inactivity fees. The PA UC system should send you an email notification when the payment has been processed, which is separate from the payment date shown in the portal.

UPDATE: The money just hit my card this morning! That's about 3 business days from the payment date. Thanks everyone for your help!
