PA UC payment returned - Money Network card not activated - how to get payment reissued?
Just found out my unemployment payment got returned to PA UC because I never activated my Money Network card! I received the card in the mail about 3 weeks ago but totally forgot to activate it. Now my payment from last week (about $580) has been sent back to unemployment according to the automated system. Who exactly do I need to call to get this payment reissued? The UC Service Center? Money Network directly? I've tried both but keep getting stuck in automated loops. Has anyone dealt with this situation before? Really need this money for rent coming up!

You need to call the PA UC Service Center directly - not Money Network. I had the same issue last month. Your payment gets returned to UC's payment processing system, and they have to manually reprocess it. Make sure you have your card activated FIRST, then call about the reissuance. The number is 1-888-313-7284, but good luck getting through!

•Thanks! I just activated the card about an hour ago. Do you remember how long it took them to reissue your payment after you called?

u dont call money network for this issue!! u HAVE to call the actual unemployment office and tell them ur payment was returned. they will have to reissue it manually to ur card but only after u activate it first. otherwise itll just bounce back again

This happens more often than you'd think. Here's the exact process: 1. Activate your Money Network card immediately (sounds like you've done this) 2. Call PA UC at 1-888-313-7284 3. When prompted, select the option for "payment issues" 4. You'll need your SSN, PIN, and the date your payment was issued 5. Explain that your payment was returned due to an unactivated card They'll verify your information and reissue the payment. It typically takes 2-3 business days for the reissued payment to hit your card. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims during this time - this payment issue won't affect your eligibility for future weeks.

•Thank you for the detailed steps! Really appreciate it. I've been trying that number all morning but just keep getting a busy signal or it disconnects me. Will keep trying.

The PA UC phone system is COMPLETELY BROKEN!!!!! I had a similar issue and spent TWO WEEKS trying to get through on that stupid number. They literally make it impossible to talk to a real person and then wonder why people get frustrated. I ended up having to drive to a CareerLink office in person to get this fixed because nobody would answer the phone!!!

•Same here! The phone system is trash. I had a payment issue in February and called 38 TIMES before getting through. Tried different times of day, different days of the week, nothing helped. The system is designed to prevent you from reaching anyone.

I had this exact same problem back in January! I actually had to get my state rep involved after 3 weeks of trying to get through on the phone. So frustrating.

•Wow, that's extreme. Hoping it doesn't come to that for me. Did they eventually reissue your payment?

•Yeah they did after my state rep's office contacted them. It took about 5 days after that. Total nightmare though.

Have you tried using Claimyr? It's a service that helps you get through to PA UC agents without waiting forever on hold. After trying for days to reach someone, I used it and got through in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The website is claimyr.com. Definitely worth it when you're dealing with returned payments that need to be reissued quickly.

•Never heard of this before but will check it out right now! Getting desperate after calling all morning with no luck.

•Is this legit? Seems sketchy to pay money just to talk to unemployment which should be FREE to contact!

•It's totally legit. I was skeptical too but it worked. They basically call and wait on hold for you, then connect you when they get through. Saved me hours of frustration.

omg i went thru this exact thing last year. so the thing is that the payment system and the card system are like two different departments? its super confusing but basically when ur payment is rejected bc of card issues it goes into this weird limbo where its technically not in either system. what worked 4 me was emailing them through the contact form on the UC website AND calling. took about a week but they did fix it eventually

•That's really helpful to know. I'll try the email route too while I keep calling. A week is better than nothing I guess.

I see a lot of frustration about calling, so I wanted to add one more tip: Try calling right at 7:59am when they open at 8am. That's typically when their queue is shortest. Also, Thursdays and Fridays tend to have lower call volumes than Mondays and Tuesdays. In the meantime, make sure you've verified your mailing address in the system is correct, as they will sometimes mail you a paper check if they've had multiple failed attempts at direct deposit or card payments.

•Update: Finally got through to a PA UC agent using the morning call tip! They confirmed my payment was returned and said they've reprocessed it. Should be on my Money Network card within 3-5 business days. Thanks everyone for your help!

•That's awesome news! Glad the early morning call strategy worked for you. 3-5 business days is pretty standard for reissued payments. Make sure to keep checking your card balance online or through the app so you know exactly when it hits. Hope this helps anyone else dealing with the same issue!

So glad you got through and got it resolved! I've been dealing with a similar card activation issue but haven't had the courage to call yet after reading all these horror stories. Your success gives me hope that it's actually possible to reach someone if you time it right. Going to try the 7:59am strategy tomorrow morning. Thanks for updating us on how it worked out - really helpful for others who might be going through the same thing!
