What does decision rendered mean for unemployment claim status in NYS Department of Labor?

My unemployment claim has been showing 'decision rendered' for the past two days and I have no idea what this means. I was in adjudication for about 6 weeks after filing my initial claim back in January. Now suddenly it changed to this status but I can't find any explanation anywhere on the my.ny.gov website. Has anyone else seen this status before? Does it mean I was approved or denied? I'm really nervous because I haven't received any payment yet and my bills are piling up.

A 'decision rendered' status means that NYS Department of Labor has made a determination on your claim after the adjudication process. You should receive a written determination notice in the mail within 2-3 business days explaining whether your claim was approved or denied, and if denied, the specific reasons why. Check your online account regularly as sometimes the determination letter gets uploaded to your document section before the physical mail arrives.

Thank you! I'll keep checking my online account. Do you know if there's any way to tell from the status alone whether it's good or bad news?

omg I had the same thing happen last month!! I was freaking out for days waiting to find out. In my case it was approved and I got all my back pay. But my friend got denied so it really could go either way. The waiting is the worst part honestly.

How long did it take for you to get the determination letter? I'm checking my mailbox obsessively lol

It took 3 days for me to get the letter but it showed up in my online documents after 2 days

If you're having trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor to check on your status, I had success using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me connect with an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. I was able to get my determination explained over the phone instead of waiting for the mail.

Never heard of that service before, is it legit? The NYS Department of Labor phone lines are impossible to get through to normally.

Yeah it's real, they basically call on your behalf and get you connected. Saved me a lot of stress when I was waiting for my adjudication decision.

The whole adjudication process is such a joke. Six weeks is ridiculous for them to make a simple decision. And then they give you this cryptic status that tells you nothing! Why can't they just say APPROVED or DENIED instead of this 'decision rendered' nonsense?

seriously! like just tell us what the decision actually is instead of making us wait even more for a letter

Just went through this exact same situation. My decision rendered status meant I was approved but had to complete additional job search requirements before my payments would start. Make sure when you get your determination letter to read it carefully because there might be additional steps you need to take even if you're approved.

I'm going through the exact same anxiety right now! My claim also switched to "decision rendered" yesterday after being stuck in adjudication since February. The not knowing is driving me crazy - I keep refreshing my account hoping for some kind of update. Has anyone noticed if the status changes again before you get the actual determination letter, or does it just stay as "decision rendered" until you find out the result? Really hoping we both get good news soon!

I'm in the exact same boat! Mine changed to "decision rendered" this morning and I've been checking my account every hour since then. From what I've read in other threads, it seems like the status just stays as "decision rendered" until you actually receive the determination letter - it doesn't change to show the outcome beforehand. The waiting is absolutely torture! Fingers crossed we both get approved. Have you been able to check if anything showed up in your online documents section yet?
