NYDOL Claim Status Check: Approved/Denied? Next Steps?

Hey everyone, I filed an unemployment claim a few days ago and I'm trying to figure out what's going on with it. Has anyone had experience with checking on the status of their claim? I'm wondering if it's been approved or denied, and what I should do next. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I've been there before! The waiting game is the worst part. Have you tried logging into your online account to check the status? Sometimes it updates there before you get any official communication.

Good advice! I remember refreshing that page like 100 times a day when I was waiting on my claim lol

Online account? Where do you even find that? The NYDOL website is like a maze to me šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Ugh, I feel your pain. I filed my claim 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. The system is so backed up right now, it's ridiculous. Hang in there!

Pro tip: If you really need to know ASAP, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The system should work better so we don't have to pay extra just to get basic info 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me days of frustration. Worth every penny imho

How long did you have to wait once it connected you?

It took about an hour total, but I didn't have to do anything. The service called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck to my phone all day!

Here's what you need to know about checking your claim status: • First, give it at least 2-3 business days after filing before you start checking. • Log into your NY.gov account and go to the unemployment services section. • Look for a 'Claim Status' or 'Payment History' tab. • If your claim is approved, you'll see info about your benefit rate and payment dates. • No info could mean it's still processing or there might be an issue. • If it's been more than a week, try calling the NYDOL hotline. • Be prepared to wait on hold for a LONG time if you call. • Check your email and regular mail for any correspondence from NYDOL. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

For real tho. We're already stressed about being unemployed, why make it harder?

Quick question - did you get an email confirmation after you filed? I submitted mine last week and got radio silence. Starting to worry I messed something up 😰

Yeah, I did get an email right after I submitted. Maybe check your spam folder? If it's not there, might be worth giving them a call to make sure it went through.

Oof, checked spam and nothing. Guess I'm in for a fun day of trying to get through on the phone. Wish me luck! šŸ€

Word of advice: document EVERYTHING. Save screenshots, write down who you talked to and when. The bureaucracy is real and you might need to prove stuff later.

Has anyone else noticed that the NYDOL website is always down for maintenance when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point šŸ™„

Pro tip: try accessing the site super early in the morning or late at night. Less traffic = better chance of it working

Hang in there, OP! I know it's stressful, but try to stay positive. I was in your shoes a few months ago and it all worked out eventually. Sending good vibes your way! ✨
