NY unemployment login keeps rejecting my password even though I know it's correct - anyone else?
I'm so frustrated right now. I successfully logged into my NY unemployment account yesterday morning to check on my payment status. Everything was working fine. This afternoon I tried to login again and the system keeps saying my password is incorrect. I KNOW it's the right password - I haven't changed it and I use a password manager so there's no way I'm typing it wrong. I've tried at least 8 times already. I even tried the password reset option but I never received the email they supposedly sent. I checked my spam folder too. This is really stressing me out because I need to certify for my benefits by tomorrow or I'll miss this week's payment. Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is the system glitching? Any suggestions on what to do if the password reset doesn't work?

Yeah this happened to me last week! The website is sooo glitchy. I thought I was going crazy. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then restart your browser completely. That worked for me after trying like 5 times. If that doesnt work try using a different browser altogether.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried clearing cache and cookies but still no luck. Going to try Firefox instead of Chrome now...

•Try using incognito/private browsing mode! That worked for me when I had the same problem.

After weeks of not being able to login, I finally found a way to talk to a real person! I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they actually got me connected to a rep who fixed my account issues in minutes. Best money I've ever spent to get my benefits flowing again. Check out this video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? i've tried calling 500+ times and can never get through 🤔

•It worked for me! I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying to call for 2 weeks. They basically call for you and when they get someone, they connect you. Took about 45 mins for me but saved me days of frustration.

•I get being suspicious but it's literally just a service that calls and waits on hold for you. The rep I talked to helped me reset my account access right away. My benefits were processed the next day.

•I used it last month when my account was locked. Got through to someone in about an hour. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast after weeks of nothing.

•she said they're "working on it" but you know how that goes... could be hours or days. if u need to certify urgently, try calling. good luck tho the wait times are insane

Make sure you're going to the right website. They changed the URL a few weeks ago and the old one will still let you try to login but always fails. Go directly to labor.ny.gov and navigate from there to make sure you're on the legit site.

OMG THIS EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME!!!! i was losing my mind!!! you gotta call them. its the only way. i had to call like 50 times but when i finally got thru they said there was a security flag on my account cuz of "suspicious activity" (which was just ME trying to login from different devices). They reset everything while i was on the phone.

•That's so annoying! How long did you have to wait on the phone once you got through?

I'm having THE EXACT same issue. Started yesterday. Been trying different browsers, devices, everything. Nothing works. Im supposed to certify this week too. This system is a complete joke.

•We're in the same boat. Ridiculous how they can just lock us out with no warning. Let me know if you find a solution!

The issue is that they're implementing 2-factor authentication on all accounts but the rollout is a disaster. I had this problem and spent 3 hours on hold only to be told I need to verify my identity through [ID.me](http://ID.me) before I can login again. Nobody was notified about this. Try going to [ID.me](http://ID.me) directly and see if that helps.

•I already have ID.me set up from before, and it was working fine yesterday. But I'll try going through their site directly, thanks!

•This is the correct answer. Same happened to me and was the solution. ID.me is a separate system that sometimes desyncs from the unemployment portal.

The whole NY unemployment system is actually down for maintenance according to their Twitter. They never announced it on the main site tho 🤡 Should be back up by tomorrow morning.

•Just checked their Twitter and you're right! Would have been nice if they'd put that message on the login page instead of making it look like it's my fault 🙄 Thanks for the info!

When this happened to me, I found out someone had tried to hack my account. Call immediately! Could be identity theft. They had to lock my account for security.

•Oh no, that's terrifying! Did you have to provide additional verification to get back in?

•Yeah, had to send in copies of my ID and proof of address. took about a week to get back in. But better safe than having someone steal my benefits!

Look, I've been dealing with NY unemployment for over 2 years now through various issues and I've learned a lot. When you can't log in, it's usually one of these things: 1. System maintenance (check their Twitter for announcements) 2. Your account was flagged for security (could be multiple login attempts, IP changes, etc) 3. You need to re-verify your identity through ID.me 4. Browser compatibility issues (they only fully support certain browsers) 5. Your password actually expired (they make them expire every 90 days but don't tell you) The absolute fastest way to resolve this is to speak with an agent directly. I wasted WEEKS trying to solve my login issues through emails and self-service. But once I got someone on the phone, it was fixed in minutes. I highly recommend using claimyr.com - it's a service that calls unemployment for you and connects you when they get a real person. It saved me days of frustration and my benefits were processed right after getting my account unlocked. Don't wait on this - if you need to certify soon, getting locked out could cost you money. Good luck!

•Thank you for such a detailed response! I'll definitely try to get through to someone. I didn't know about the 90-day password expiration, that could be it since I've had the same password for a while.

•The 90 day password thing is SO TRUE. They never notify you and then suddenly you can't log in. Happened to me twice!

Someone might have reported your account as fraudulent. My roommate had an ex who did this to him out of spite and his account got locked immediately. Had to go through a whole identity verification process to get it back.

There's a secret phone number that actually works better than the main one. DM me if you want it. Got through in 20 min last time instead of hours.
