Multiple UI claim numbers - Billing confusion with NYS DOL unemployment
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my unemployment claim. I filed my first claim and got a receipt number, but then I had to file another claim and got a different order number. Now I'm confused about what's going on with my billing. Has anyone else dealt with multiple claims or orders? I'm worried about being charged twice or having issues with my benefits. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, the unemployment system is such a mess! I had a similar issue last month. Have you tried calling the unemployment office? It might help to speak with someone directly about your specific situation.

ā¢I've been trying to call for days, but the lines are always busy. It's so frustrating! š¤

ā¢Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

ā¢I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment? That's ridiculous!

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me hours of frustration. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

ā¢Can you explain more about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

ā¢Sure! They use an automated system to navigate the phone menu and wait on hold. When a real person answers, they connect the call to your phone. They don't guarantee success, but they'll refund you if they can't get through.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes the system updates there before you get any notifications. It might show if both claims are active or if one was cancelled.

This happened to me too! Turns out the second 'order' was actually just a confirmation of an update to my first claim. Check your emails carefully - they might have sent you more info.

ā¢Oh, that's interesting! I'll definitely go back and double-check my emails. Thanks for the tip!

The unemployment system is a total š¤” show rn. I've been dealing with issues for MONTHS. My advice? Document everything. Every call, every email, every claim number. You might need it later if things get messed up.

Here's what you need to know about multiple claims and billing issues with unemployment: ā¢ First, don't panic. It's common for the system to generate multiple claim numbers, especially if you've had to make updates or corrections. ā¢ Check your online account for the most up-to-date information. This should show your active claim(s) and any pending payments. ā¢ If you're worried about double billing, rest assured that the unemployment office doesn't actually 'charge' you. The numbers you're seeing are likely just internal reference numbers. ā¢ However, if you've received multiple payments for the same week, DO NOT spend the extra money. Report it to the unemployment office immediately to avoid future issues. ā¢ Keep all documentation related to your claims, including emails, confirmation numbers, and any letters you receive. ā¢ If you can't resolve the issue online or by phone, consider reaching out to your local state representative. They often have contacts in the unemployment office and can help escalate your case. Remember, the unemployment system is overwhelmed right now, so patience is key. But don't be afraid to be persistent in getting your issue resolved!

ā¢Quick question - how do you find your local state representative? Is there a website or something?

ā¢You can usually find your state rep by going to your state legislature's website and entering your address. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues.
