Lost my NY unemployment debit card - how long for replacement?
I just realized I can't find my NY unemployment benefits debit card ANYWHERE. I've torn my whole apartment apart looking for it and I'm starting to panic because next week's benefits should be deposited soon. Has anyone had to request a replacement card? How long did it take to arrive? Did you have access to your funds while waiting? I called the customer service number on the KeyBank website but got stuck in an endless menu loop. Really stressing about this!

I replaced mine back in January. You need to call KeyBank directly at 866-295-2955 to report it lost and request a new one. Takes about 7-10 business days to arrive. Important: they'll deactivate your old card immediately when you report it lost, so any funds already on there will be transferred to the new card when it arrives. You won't have access to new deposits until you get the replacement.

•Thank you so much! Did you have to verify a bunch of information? I'm worried because I don't remember if I have the original welcome letter with all my account details.

DONT CALL KEYBANK!!!! Their customer service is HORRIBLE!!! I waited 2 hours last month and then got disconnected. Then called back and they said wrong department. Complete nightmare. Just go online and report it lost there instead, way easier.

•Actually, for a lost debit card you do need to call KeyBank directly. The online portal doesn't have the option to report cards lost/stolen - that's a security feature. But you're right that their phone system can be frustrating.

•Quick tip: you can actually request expedited shipping for the replacement card if you explain it's an emergency situation. They can get it to you in 3-4 business days instead. There's a small fee (I think around $15) but they take it directly from your benefits balance. Saved me when I was in a similar situation.

Has anyone tried setting up direct deposit instead of using the card? I'm thinking about switching because I'm always worried about losing my card too. The website says you can do it but I'm not sure how complicated the process is.

•Yes! Do direct deposit! I switched last year and it's so much better. Just log into your NY.gov account, go to unemployment services, and there's an option to update payment method. You need your routing and account number. Takes like 5 mins to set up but then 2-3 business days for them to verify your bank account before it activates.

Lost my card last summer and it was a nightmare trying to get through to KeyBank. I kept calling the number on their website but could never reach a real person. So frustrating!!

•I had the same issue trying to reach KeyBank about a different problem. I ended up using Claimyr.com to get through to an agent quickly. They have this service that helps you skip the phone queues - saved me hours of waiting. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE. After trying unsuccessfully for days, I got through to a KeyBank rep in less than 20 minutes using their service.

Here's the exact process for replacing a lost KeyBank debit card for NY unemployment benefits: 1. Call KeyBank at 866-295-2955 2. Select option for lost/stolen card (usually option 1 or 2) 3. You'll need to verify your identity with: - Full name - Address on file - Last 4 of your SSN - Date of birth 4. They'll deactivate the old card immediately 5. Standard delivery is 7-10 business days 6. Expedited shipping is available for a fee (around $15) 7. Any funds currently on the card will transfer to the new one 8. While waiting, consider setting up direct deposit through your NY.gov account to avoid this issue in the future Hope this helps!

Quick update - the KeyBank customer service hours are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm ET. Just mentioning because I know a few people who tried calling on weekends and got confused when no one answered.

UPDATE: Got through to KeyBank finally! New card is on the way with expedited shipping (thanks for that tip!). Should be here by Friday. And I've already started the process to set up direct deposit for future payments. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Actually not too bad! About 25 minutes. I called first thing in the morning which might have helped.
