How to get a new unemployment card after losing my KeyBank debit card
I lost my KeyBank unemployment debit card last week and need to figure out how to get a replacement. I've been getting my UI benefits on this card for the past two months but now I'm totally stuck. I tried calling the number on the NYS Department of Labor website but keep getting busy signals. My weekly claim is due tomorrow and I'm worried about accessing my money. Has anyone dealt with getting a new unemployment card recently? Do I need to contact KeyBank directly or go through NYS Department of Labor?

You need to call KeyBank directly for a replacement card, not NYS Department of Labor. The number should be 1-866-295-2955. They can overnight a new card but there's usually a fee. Your benefits will still be deposited to the account even without the physical card.

•Thank you! I didn't realize KeyBank handles the card replacement. Will my account number stay the same or do they issue a completely new account?

same thing happened to me last month!! had to wait like 5 days for the new card but the money was still there when it arrived. you can also try logging into the KeyBank app to see your balance even without the card

If you're having trouble reaching KeyBank by phone, you can also report the card lost through their website and request a replacement online. The process usually takes 7-10 business days for standard delivery. Make sure to keep filing your weekly claims with NYS Department of Labor as normal - the card issue won't affect your benefit eligibility.

•That's a relief about the weekly claims. I was worried missing a payment would mess up my whole claim status.

I had issues getting through to KeyBank when I needed help with my unemployment card too. Ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to an actual NYS Department of Labor agent who could help coordinate with KeyBank. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling around.

•How much does that service cost? I'm already broke waiting for my unemployment money lol

•It's worth checking out - they focus on getting you connected quickly rather than keeping you on hold forever. The time saved is usually worth it when you're dealing with urgent card issues.

The whole KeyBank system is a nightmare tbh. Why can't NYS Department of Labor just do direct deposit like normal jobs? This debit card thing is so outdated and causes nothing but problems when you lose it or it gets damaged.

•You can actually switch to direct deposit! Just log into your my.ny.gov account and change your payment method in the NYS Department of Labor section.
