I had a similar situation and couldn't get through to NYS Department of Labor for weeks to ask about my work history. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me connected to an agent who could review my eligibility over the phone. There's even a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Way easier than trying to navigate the phone system myself.
honestly the whole system is rigged anyway. they'll probably deny you just because they can and then you'll have to appeal and wait months. happened to me and three other people i know. but yeah definitely still apply, you never know
My cousin went through this last year. When her benefits ended she had to apply for every assistance program she could find and picked up gig work to survive. It's rough but there are food pantries, emergency help programs, sometimes churches have assistance too. Just don't give up on the job search.
Wait, I thought there was something called extended benefits? Or is that only in certain situations? I'm confused about what happens after regular UI ends.

The system is SO broken though. Even if you file right away you might wait weeks for adjudication if there's any issue with your claim. I filed immediately when I got laid off in December and I'm still waiting for them to approve my claim because they're 'investigating' something about my previous employer. The NYS Department of Labor moves at a snail's pace.

•Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about! What kind of investigation takes that long?
