How to get tax form from NYS Department of Labor unemployment benefits?
I received unemployment benefits last year and now I need my tax documents for filing my 2024 return. I can't find anything in my my.ny.gov account about downloading tax forms. Do I need to wait for them to mail it or is there a way to get it online? I'm worried I'm missing something obvious but the website isn't very clear about where to find tax documents.

You should receive Form 1099-G either by mail or electronically. Log into your my.ny.gov account and look for the 'Tax Documents' section under your unemployment services. If you don't see it there, check if you opted for electronic delivery when you first filed your claim. The forms are usually available by late January.

NYS Department of Labor sends the 1099-G forms automatically but sometimes there are delays. If you can't find it online, try calling their tax document hotline. They can also reissue forms if yours got lost in the mail. Make sure you have your SSN and the total amount of benefits you received handy when you call.

mine came in the mail around feb 1st last year so maybe just wait a bit longer?? also make sure your address is updated with them

The whole NYS Department of Labor system is a mess when it comes to tax documents. I filed my unemployment claim online but they still insist on mailing paper forms to an old address even though I updated everything multiple times. It's like they want to make it as difficult as possible for people to get their tax paperwork.
