Need help getting my W-2 from NY unemployment for 2025 taxes
Can someone tell me how to get my W-2 from NY unemployment? I collected benefits in early 2025 and now I'm trying to file my taxes, but I don't have the tax form. I thought they would mail it automatically, but nothing came. I tried logging into my account but can't find where to download it. Do they even send W-2s or is it a different form? Really confused and my tax appointment is next week!

For unemployment benefits, you need a 1099-G form, not a W-2. W-2s are only for regular employment. You can get your 1099-G by logging into your NY.gov account, going to the unemployment services section, and looking for the tax forms option. They should have it available for download by late January each year.

Did anyone else notice that the 1099-G download section sometimes doesn't work right in Chrome? I had to switch to Firefox to finally get mine to download properly. Just posting in case someone else runs into the same issue!!

UPDATE: I found my 1099-G! For anyone else who might need this info: I had to click on "Unemployment Services" then scroll ALL the way down to find the tax forms section. It wasn't obvious at all. Thanks everyone for your help!

My tax preparer said i need to get a CORRECTED 1099-G because mine shows the wrong amount!!! Has anyone dealt with getting a corrected form?? SO FRUSTRATING
