How to check unemployment payment status - NYS Department of Labor system keeps showing different info
I've been trying to check my unemployment payment status for the past week and I'm getting confused by what I'm seeing on my.ny.gov. Sometimes it shows my weekly claim was processed but no payment date, other times it shows pending. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like always but now I'm not sure if my payment went through or not. My direct deposit usually hits by Wednesday but nothing showed up this week. Is there a reliable way to check unemployment payment status that actually gives you accurate information? The NYS Department of Labor website seems to update at random times.

You need to log into your my.ny.gov account and go to the 'View Payment History' section under unemployment services. That will show you the exact status of each weekly claim payment and when it was issued. Sometimes there's a delay between when it shows processed and when the payment actually gets released to your bank.

•I checked that section but it only shows payments from last month. This week's claim isn't showing up anywhere in the payment history yet.

The NYS Department of Labor payment system typically updates overnight on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you filed your weekly claim on Sunday, check your 'Claim Status' page first to make sure there are no issues that need to be resolved. Look for any flags or messages that might be holding up your payment. You can also check the 'Payment Information' tab which shows pending payments separately from completed ones.

•Thank you! I found a message under claim status that I missed - apparently they need me to verify my job search activities. That's probably why my payment is held up.

•UGH the job search verification thing is such a pain! They make you jump through so many hoops just to get your own money. I had to submit my job search log THREE TIMES before they accepted it.

If you're having trouble getting through to check your status, I had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) when I couldn't reach anyone at NYS Department of Labor directly. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Really helped me get my payment status sorted out when I was stuck in a similar situation.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I might try that if I can't resolve this verification issue online.

I've dealt with this exact same issue multiple times! The my.ny.gov system can be really inconsistent with status updates. One tip that helped me - try checking your status at different times of day, especially early morning around 6-7 AM or late evening after 9 PM. The system seems to be more accurate during off-peak hours when fewer people are accessing it. Also, if your direct deposit is late, it's worth calling your bank to make sure there are no holds on ACH transfers from NY State. Sometimes the payment gets issued but your bank delays it for verification.

I had the same frustrating experience with the my.ny.gov system showing inconsistent information! What finally worked for me was clearing my browser cache and cookies before logging in, then checking the "Weekly Claim History" section instead of just the main dashboard. That section tends to be more reliable and shows the actual processing dates. Also, if you're still not seeing your payment after resolving the job search verification issue, try logging out completely and back in - sometimes the system doesn't refresh properly when you're continuously logged in. The whole system definitely needs an overhaul, but these workarounds helped me track my payments more accurately.

•This is really helpful advice about clearing browser cache and checking the Weekly Claim History section! I've been having similar issues with the system not updating properly. Just tried your suggestion about logging out completely and back in, and now I can see my payment status more clearly. The my.ny.gov system really does seem to have refresh issues when you stay logged in for too long. Thanks for sharing these workarounds!

I've been dealing with similar payment status confusion on my.ny.gov for months now! One thing that really helped me was setting up text notifications through the DOL system - you can enable them in your account settings under "Communication Preferences." They'll send you updates when your claim is processed or if there are any issues. It's not perfect but at least you get notified instead of constantly checking the website. Also, I learned that payments typically get released between 2-4 AM on Wednesday mornings, so if you don't see it by Thursday, that's when you know something is definitely wrong and need to call.
