How long after ID.me verification can you file new NY unemployment claim?
I'm trying to help my aunt file a new unemployment claim. She completed the ID.me verification process last week and got successfully verified during her video call with the representative. However, when I tried to fill out her new application on the DOL website afterward, the system wouldn't let me proceed. I've heard there might be a waiting period of around two weeks after verification before you can submit a new claim? Does anyone know if this is correct or how long we should wait? This is her first time filing in NY and we're not sure about the next steps after ID.me. Any information would be really helpful!

When I did ID.me back in August it took about 9 days before I could access my account and file a claim. The system needs time to process the verification. Just keep checking every couple days. Dont start a new application or it might cause more problems.

ā¢Thanks for the info, that's reassuring! Did you get any confirmation email or notification when the system finally processed your verification?

ā¢Nope, no email or anything. I just tried logging in every morning until it worked. The system is pretty terrible about communications tbh

After struggling to reach anyone on the phone for days, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an actual person at unemployment. Used it last month when I had the same verification issue and the agent was able to push my application through right away instead of waiting. Worth checking out - talking to an agent got my benefits flowing so much faster than waiting for the system. There's a YouTube video explaining how it works too: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

ā¢Is this actually real? Seems too good to be true after all the hours I've wasted on hold...

ā¢Yeah it's real. I was skeptical at first too but I was desperate after being on hold for literally 6+ hours across 3 days. They just call for you and connect you when a human picks up. Saved my sanity honestly.

ā¢yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? š

ā¢No catch - they just do the waiting for you. It worked for me when nothing else did. My claim had been stuck for weeks with the ID verification issue until I got through to a rep.

ā¢hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

ā¢The difference is it actually connects you with the real NY unemployment office. They don't handle your claim - they just get you past the hold times so you can talk to a real agent. Made all the difference for me.

There's definitely a waiting period. For me it was exactly 10 business days before I could access my account after ID.me. The waiting is so frustrating but just keep trying. Dont create a new account or you'll reset the whole thing.

Yup, the system is designed to be as frustrating as possible. I was in the same boat with my husband's claim in November. After ID.me it took about 12 days before we could proceed. You might want to call and check if theres anything else needed while you wait. The NY unemployment website is garbage and sometimes doesn't show all the requirements.

ā¢Thanks for the heads up! Do you know which number is best to call? I've tried the main line but can never get through.

ā¢Honestly all their numbers are basically useless. I had to call like 50 times before I got through. Try early morning right when they open, thats your best shot.

ā¢Check out claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold for you and then call when they get an agent. Worked for me after weeks of trying.

Here's what you need to know about the NY unemployment ID.me verification process (coming from someone who works in the tech sector and has been through this NIGHTMARE): After ID.me verification, there is indeed a processing period that typically takes 7-14 business days. This is because: ⢠The ID.me system has to sync with NYSDOL's outdated database ⢠Your verification data needs to be manually reviewed in many cases ⢠The system often requires additional security checks that happen behind the scenes What you should do now: 1) DO NOT create another application - this will flag the system and potentially lock everything 2) Check your email daily including spam folders for any communications 3) Try logging in every few days to see if access has been restored 4) If it's been more than 14 business days, you NEED to speak with a representative The most efficient way to get someone on the phone is using claimyr.com - they'll wait on hold and connect you directly to an agent when one is available. This saved me weeks of frustration when my account was stuck in verification limbo. The system is intentionally difficult to navigate, but hang in there - once verified, the rest of the process moves faster.

ā¢Wish I had known this before I created a second application and messed everything up lol. Took me an extra month to sort it all out š

it took me 13 days from ID.me to being able to file. The whole system is trash. Keep calling them tho, sometimes they can speed it up if you get the right agent.

The 2 week thing is pretty accurate. I did my ID.me on Feb 10th and couldn't file until Feb 24th. So annoying but unfortunately thats just how it works. They never tell you this part upfront ofcourse š

ā¢THIS!!! The lack of communication is what drives me insane about NY unemployment. They never tell you what to expect next.

ā¢For real! And then they act like YOU did something wrong when you call to ask about the status š¤”

Has anyone successfully filed sooner than 2 weeks after ID.me? Im going on day 8 and getting desperate...

ā¢I managed to get it done in 6 days but only because I called and got a super helpful agent who manually pushed it through the system. Most people aren't that lucky.

ā¢I used claimyr.com to get through to someone after waiting a week and they fixed it for me same day. Otherwise I think I would have been waiting the full 2 weeks.

tell your aunt to check her email including junk folder. Sometimes they send a link after ID.me that you need to click. I missed this and waited 3 weeks for nothing when I could've completed the process way sooner.

The wait time after ID.me is totally random tbh. I've filed twice - first time took 8 days, second time took 17 days. NY unemployment system runs on hamster wheels and prayers.

Your aunt might get lucky but I'd prepare for about 2 weeks wait. Thats pretty standard for NY. The real kicker is they dont tell you that AFTER you file, theres another 2-3 week wait to actually get approved and receive benefits. The whole process takes way longer than they advertise.

ā¢Ugh, that's so frustrating! Thanks for the heads up though - better to know what we're in for.

ā¢And make sure she's answering any unknown calls! They sometimes call to verify additional info and if you miss it, the whole process gets delayed again!

Everyone saying 2 weeks is accurate but also sometimes the system never updates properly. After waiting 16 days I finally called and turned out they needed additional verification that was never communicated to me. So if you hit the 2 week mark and still cant file, definitely call.

did she get the email from id.me saying verification complete? if yes then its just waiting. if no then something went wrong and you should contact id.me not DOL

ā¢Yes, she got the confirmation email from ID.me. Sounds like we just need to be patient then.

Just as an FYI for everyone on here - if you ever have issues with ID.me, don't bother calling NYSDOL. ID.me is a separate company and NYSDOL agents will just tell you to contact them directly. Learned this the hard way after wasting 2hrs on hold.
