Finished ID.me verification but money missing from KeyBank card - ny unemployment help needed
I finally got through the ID.me verification process on December 5th and got confirmation that my funds were released to my KeyBank card on December 9th. It's been 5 days now and there's nothing showing up on my card. I've checked my balance multiple times and even called the automated system to check transaction history. The DOL website shows the payment was processed and released, but my KeyBank account shows zero activity. Anyone else experienced this? I was expecting about $2,350 in backpay. I've tried calling unemployment but can't get through to a human. Starting to get really worried since I need this money for rent and bills.

Same thing happened to me in November! The money was "released" but nothing in my account for over a week. Turns out my card had been deactivated because I hadn't used it in a while. Had to call KeyBank directly to get a new one sent. Check if your card is still active!

•Thanks for responding! How did you check if your card was active? Did you have to call KeyBank customer service?

•Yeah I had to call keybank directly. The automated system wouldn't tell me, had to talk to a rep. They said after 6 months of inactivity they deactivate cards.

After trying for weeks to reach someone at unemployment with no luck, I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected with a live agent in less than an hour. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast - totally worth checking out. They even have this video explaining how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄 I've tried everything to get through.

•No catch honestly. They just keep calling on your behalf and then connect you when they get through. After being on hold myself for 3+ hours multiple days I was desperate. Got connected to an agent who fixed my issue in 10 minutes.

•wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? I'm on day 14 of trying to reach someone

•It worked for me and two of my friends. They basically automate the calling and waiting on hold part. When an agent finally picks up, they connect the call to your phone.

•not falling for another unemployment 'hack'... these never work. The system is DESIGNED to be impossible to navigate

•I get the skepticism, was there myself. But after 3 weeks of trying to get through myself, this was the only thing that worked. My backpay came through 2 days after talking to the agent.

Call KeyBank directly at 866-295-2955. Don't waste time with the DOL. If the funds were released to KeyBank, then it's a KeyBank issue not an unemployment issue. Also check if your card expired - they only last 2-3 years and they mail the new one about a month before expiration.

Sometimes there's a hold on the funds for 1-2 weeks especially if this is your first payment after verification. My husband had to wait 9 days before the money actually showed up in the account even though the website said it was released. So frustrating but might just need to wait a bit longer.

•Did he have to do anything to get the money released after those 9 days? or it just appeared?

•It just appeared eventually. Super annoying cause we were checking like 5 times a day lol. No notification or anything, just suddenly there.

Another possibility - check if your benefits got rerouted to a different payment method. Someone hacked my account last year and changed my payment info. Had to go through a whole fraud investigation. Log into your account and verify your payment method is still the KeyBank card.

•Omg I didn't even think of this. Gonna check right now.

•Just checked and payment method still shows as the debit card. At least that's not the issue. 😓

Have you tried checking your balance through the KeyBank website instead of just the automated phone system? Sometimes the phone system is slow to update. Also try checking your transaction history online to see if there's any pending deposits.

I've had THREE problems with KeyBank in the past year... their system is hot garbage. Here's what I recommend: First, double check your DOL payment history to confirm the exact date the payment was released. Make sure it says "paid" not "pending" or "processing." Next, call KeyBank directly at 866-295-2955. Ignore their automated system and press 0 repeatedly until you get a human. Ask them specifically about: - If your card is active or expired - If there are any holds on deposits to your account - If they can see the pending deposit from NY DOL If KeyBank says they don't see any pending deposits, THEN you need to contact unemployment. Don't waste time going back and forth. I used claimyr.com to finally get through to a live agent after trying for weeks. It's the only way I finally got my missing payments resolved. Also, I'd suggest setting up direct deposit to a regular bank account instead of using the KeyBank card. Much more reliable and you can actually talk to someone at a branch if there are issues.

•Thank you so much for this detailed response. I just checked my payment history again and it does say "paid" not pending. Going to try calling KeyBank tomorrow morning.

•💯 on switching to direct deposit. KeyBank is the absolute WORST. I had so many problems with them.

•how do you switch from keybank to direct deposit? i've been trying to figure this out

•You have to log into your NY unemployment account, go to payment method and select direct deposit instead of debit card. Then enter your banking info. Takes about 5-10 business days to switch over.

This happened to me!! My address had changed since I last used unemployment and they mailed a new card to my old address. I had to call KeyBank to get a new card sent to my current address. Check if that might be your issue.

Couldn't get anyone on the phone at ny unemployment for WEEKS until I found this claimyr.com service. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent who actually fixed my missing payment issue. Before that I was just getting automated responses and generic emails.

•Hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

•It's just a calling service that waits on hold for you. When they get a human on the line, they call your phone and connect you. Saved me from sitting on hold for hours. My issue got fixed right away once I finally talked to someone.

ugh the KeyBank-DOL combo is THE WORST. i'm in the exact same boat right now waiting for $1700 that supposedly was released 4 days ago. i hate this system so much.

Check if your KeyBank card didn't expire! Mine expired and I didn't even notice because they sent the new one to an old address. The money was sitting in limbo for almost 3 weeks until I sorted it out.

Ok so, NEVER trust what the unemployment website says about payments being released! I went through this exact thing in October. Website said payment released, KeyBank had nothing. Turns out there was a "security hold" that didn't show online. Had to call unemployment (used claimyr.com to get through) and specifically ask about security holds. Agent released it and money showed up the next day.

•Yeah I was surprised it worked tbh. I was on day 11 of trying to get a human on the phone. They just automated the calling and waiting part. When someone finally answered they connected me.

•I used it last month, it worked. They basically just call repeatedly and wait on hold so you don't have to. When an agent picks up, they call your phone.

Don't panic yet! Sometimes the KeyBank system takes up to 10 business days to process deposits from unemployment, especially for larger backpay amounts. My payment took 8 business days to appear despite showing as released on the DOL website.

•Thanks for this! Gives me a little hope. I'll wait a few more days before totally freaking out.
