Did NY unemployment change their part-time work hour reporting rules?

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going crazy! Do you know when they made this change? I didn't get any notification about it.

I think it happened about a month ago? I didn't get any notice either, just noticed it when certifying one week. Classic ny unemployment not bothering to tell anyone about important changes 🙄

Is there an official announcement somewhere? I'm paranoid about getting hit with an overpayment notice later if I follow the new guidelines without documentation.

100% worth it. I spent 3 weeks trying to get through on my own with no luck. Used claimyr.com and talked to someone the same day who fixed my issue.

They have some automated system that calls and waits on hold for you. When an actual human picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast after months of nothing.

No miracle lol, just a service that waits on hold so you don't have to. It doesn't solve your claim problems - it just gets you to an actual person who can. I was skeptical too but it worked for me 🤷‍♀️

Nah you're good. You were actually reporting MORE work than required so if anything you were getting LESS money than you were entitled to. They'd only come after you if you underreported.

Their whole system is designed to be as confusing as possible so people give up. Change my mind.

As someone who used to work adjacent to state agencies, it's not malice, it's incompetence. The IT systems are from the stone age and nobody knows how to update them properly.

How long did it take to get someone on the phone using that service?

Same day for me! It was maybe 2-3 hours from when I signed up until I got the call that they had an agent on the line. WAY better than the weeks I spent trying on my own.

It's in the updated UI handbook on their website under the "Reporting Part-Time Work" section. Just Google "NY unemployment handbook 2023" and it should come up.

You can also try calling right when they open at 8am. That's how I got through, but it still took like 20 attempts.

Yes, PTO counts as hours worked so it would fall under the same ranges. 8 hours of PTO would be 0 days under the new system.
