Will my ny unemployment payment go to my new bank after updating direct deposit info yesterday?

I updated my direct deposit information yesterday morning to my new Chase account. My weekly certification was processed on Sunday and usually hits my old Bank of America account on Tuesday. Anyone know if the payment will go to my new account or still go to the old one? The website confirmed my direct deposit change but didn't tell me when it would take effect. I need this money for rent asap and really don't want to deal with delays or having to transfer between accounts.

i tried chatting with them online thru the website and they were zero help. gave me a copy paste response that didn't even answer my question. such clowns 🤡

Pro tip: if you do need to call, do it right when they open at 8:00am on Monday. That's when wait times are shortest. Still not great but way better than mid-day.

My NY unemployment payment limit increased after I used all 26 weeks - what does this mean?

I thought I used up all my regular unemployment benefits - my 26 weeks ended last week. My benefit year ends in March 2023. The strange thing is that when I checked my account this morning after getting my last payment, I noticed something weird. Up until yesterday, my maximum payable amount was always showing $15,120 (which matches my 26 weeks). But now after what should be my final payment, the system shows my maximum payable amount increased to $22,680! I got paid both the regular $580 and the additional supplement for what seems like would be week 27. I'm confused - does this mean I somehow qualified for Extended Benefits for another 13 weeks? Or is this just a system glitch that would only apply if they pass some new extension program? Has anyone else seen their maximum amount increase after using all their regular weeks?

I had the exact same thing! It turned out to be additional weeks I qualified for based on my specific claim type and the unemployment rate in my region. But the only way I found out was by talking to someone. I spent weeks trying to get through on the phone with no luck, then used claimyr.com and got connected to someone who explained everything. NY unemployment payment held up for 4 weeks after ID.me verification - anyone got funds faster?

Did my ID.me verification almost a month ago after my payments suddenly stopped at the beginning of April. They told me to wait 10-12 days for processing, but that came and went with nothing. Finally managed to reach someone yesterday after calling literally every day and they said my account needs a "manual review" that could take another 2-3 weeks! I'm already behind on rent from not getting paid for 4 weeks. Has anyone managed to get their payments released sooner after going through the ID.me process? This is ridiculous - I can't go 6-7 weeks without benefits when I've been approved and was getting payments fine before this.

Quick tip: when you call, if you press 3, then 2, then wait 5 seconds and press 1, then 4 - it bypasses some of the menu options and gets you closer to a real person. Doesn't always work but has helped me get through faster a few times.

NY unemployment audit closed 09/07/2021 - Still no explanation or state refund after a week

So I just checked my ny unemployment tax status online and saw this message that caught me off guard: "Audit Status Your audit case was closed on 09/08/2021. You should receive an explanation of our findings within 30 days." My audit case was closed on 09/08/2021. Supposedly I should receive an explanation of the findings within 30 days. I already got my federal refund like 2 months back, but my state refund is still nowhere to be seen. I'm totally confused about what this means? Does anyone know if I'm going to get my money or if they're keeping it? Never been audited before and now I'm freaking out a bit about what comes next. Its been like a week since the case closed date. I don't understand why I'm just seeing this now when the case was apparently closed back in September 2021. I haven't received any explanation of findings that the message mentions should arrive within 30 days. Should I have received something in October 2021? Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay or confusion with NY unemployment tax audits?

If u have a state representative or assemblyperson, sometimes their offices can help speed things up if you don't get your letter in a reasonable time. They have special contacts at unemployment that regular ppl don't have access to. Worked for me last year when I was in limbo for 2 months.

Desperate for mayor's office number to help with fraud on my NY unemployment claim

Someone stole my identity and filed for unemployment using my information in October. I only discovered it when I randomly received a determination letter in the mail in November saying I qualified for benefits - but I never filed!! I immediately called the fraud hotline and reported it, and they told me they'd put a hold on the claim. Here we are in February and I'm still getting tax forms showing $4,800 paid out in my name that I never received! I've called the regular unemployment line like 40 times but they just transfer me to the fraud department who puts me on hold forever then disconnects. I'm genuinely worried about my taxes and credit score now. Has anyone successfully resolved identity theft with NY unemployment? I'm thinking of going straight to the mayor's office to get actual help since the regular channels aren't working. Anyone have that number or other suggestions?

The ny unemployment system is GARBAGE for handling fraud 🤦‍♂️ My cousin waited 6 months for them to fix his fraud case!
