DETR Nevada: Claim requires phone call - What to expect and tips for getting through
Has anyone else gotten that message saying you need to call in to submit your claim? I filed online but got this message saying I gotta call and talk to someone. It's so frustrating! I don't even know why they want me to call. Anyone been through this before? What should I expect when I finally get through to someone?

Hey OP! I know it's super frustrating dealing with unemployment claims. From what I've gathered, when you're asked to call in, it usually means there's something specific about your claim that requires human intervention. It could be due to a recent layoff, discrepancies with your information, or other reasons needing clarification. Expect long wait times, so make sure to have a strong phone battery and a lot of patience. While using services like Claimyr.com can indeed expedite the process by reducing wait times, it's important to weigh the cost versus your time. Also keep in mind that while Claimyr may be a time-saver, it's not necessarily accessible or affordable for everyone. If you're looking for free alternatives, try calling as soon as lines open or using any online chat or social media options the unemployment office may offer. Stay positiveβeveryone here is rooting for you to get through this!

PROTIP: Use the unemployment office's Twitter. Sometimes they respond faster there than on the phone!

Social media can actually be a powerful tool for getting responses. Worth a try!

Hey, I found a way to actually get through to someone! I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then calls you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/joPqgg0bRFw

$20??? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay to get help π‘

I get it, but for me it was worth it to not spend all day on hold. Your call tho!

I swear the unemployment system is designed to make us give up. It's been 3 months and I'm still trying to get my claim sorted out. Hang in there OP, we're all in the same sinking boat π’

I've been through this before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Have all your documents ready (layoff letter, ID, etc.) 2. Be prepared to wait on hold for a LONG time 3. When you get through, explain clearly that you were laid off and the website told you to call 4. Ask what specific info they need from you 5. Take notes during the call! Good luck, OP. The system is a mess but hang in there!

Okay, let me put on my tin foil hat for a sec π€‘ What if they make it hard on purpose so fewer people get benefits? *X-Files theme plays*

Ugh, yeah I got that too. It's such a pain. I think they do it when theres something weird with your claim that needs manual review. Did you get laid off recently?

Madison Tipne
Yeah, I did. Just got a letter from my company about it. Is that why they want me to call in?

Probably. They might need more info about the layoff. Make sure you have that letter handy when you call!

Unpopular opinion: despite all the issues, we're lucky to have an unemployment system at all. Many countries don't. Doesn't excuse the problems, but perspective helps.

True, but we shouldn't settle for a broken system just cause others have it worse
