2023 Tax Refund Shows "Refund Sent" Status - Direct Deposit Scheduled for January 29, 2025
Filed my taxes about 3 weeks ago and transcript shows processing. I finally checked the WMR tool today and it shows positive movement! According to my WMR status for Tax year 2023, I'm now at "Refund Sent" status! The screen shows: "Your tax refund is scheduled to be sent to your bank by January 30, 2025. If your refund is not credited to your account by February 04, 2025, check with your bank to see if it has been received." There's also a note that says "For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day." My personal tax information shows: Tax Year: 2023 Filing Status: Single Deposit date: January 30, 2025 Anyone know how reliable these deposit dates are? Will my bank make the funds available immediately when they receive it, or is there typically a holding period? I'm getting antsy checking WMR and transcripts every morning lol. At least now there's actual movement!

Tax professional here. The IRS transcript typically updates overnight between Thursday and Friday to show the refund sent status. Once you see the 846 code with a future date, thats when your refund is scheduled to be released. Direct deposits usually hit bank accounts 1-2 business days before that date. But lately with all these delays, its hard to gauruntee exact timing. I've been recommending taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to help track refund status - it analyzes your transcript and gives super detailed predictions about timing and any potential holdups. Way better than checking WMR or calling the IRS constantly.
