2023 HOH Return: Code 150 on Transcript But Still Showing "Return Received" on WMR - Timeline Question
Just checked WMR this morning at 07:33 and finally got code 150 on my transcript! When I check "Where's My Refund" on the official IRS website (sa.www4.irs.gov), it's showing "Return Received" status and my return is being processed. I filed Head of Household for tax year 2023. The IRS website specifically states "We have received your tax return and it is being processed." The status bar on the IRS website shows three stages: Return Received (which is where I'm at), Refund Approved, and Refund Sent. I can see this clearly on the "Results" page after logging into my account. Here's exactly what I'm seeing on the IRS website: Tax year 2023 Return Received Refund Approved Refund Sent We have received your tax return and it is being processed. Please Note For refund information, please continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day. Under "Your personal tax information" it shows: Tax Year: 2023 Filing Status: Head of household The IRS site has that official government header with "An official website of the United States Government" and "Here's how you know" text at the top. I accessed this through sa.www4.irs.gov. Anyone know what this means for timeline? I'm especially curious since I'm seeing both the code 150 on my transcript and this "Return Received" message on WMR at the same time. Should I expect movement soon or could it still be weeks of waiting? Does the code 150 appearing mean my refund is about to be approved, or is this just the first step of many?

The IRS website is showing your return in the initial "Return Received" stage, which aligns with the Code 150 appearing on your transcript. This combination is a positive indicator that your return has been officially accepted into the IRS system and posted to your account. The status bar shows you're in the first of three stages (Return Received → Refund Approved → Refund Sent). Filing as Head of Household for tax year 2023, you're now in the standard processing phase. While the IRS updates their "Where's My Refund" tool daily, they note that status changes only occur once per day, so checking multiple times within 24 hours won't show different results. Based on current IRS processing patterns, most taxpayers who see both Code 150 and "Return Received" status simultaneously typically move to the "Refund Approved" stage within 2-3 weeks, assuming there are no additional review requirements. Keep monitoring either through the IRS website (sa.www4.irs.gov) or the IRS2Go app for updates.

•The IRS processes returns 7 days a week, but updates transcripts only on weekdays. WMR usually updates overnight between 3-6am EST.

Hey, instead of playing detective with WMR and transcript codes, you should check out taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Only costs $1 and saved me hours of googling lol https://taxr.ai

•Not sketch at all! You just upload your transcript and their AI breaks down everything - tells you exactly what each code means, if there are any delays, and gives you a pretty accurate timeline. Way better than guessing!

Make sure to check your transcript daily. Sometimes WMR doesn't update but transcript will show your DDD before WMR does.
