2024 Head of Household Return Stuck in Processing - "Still Being Processed" Message with No Transcript Access
I've been checking the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool for my 2024 tax return. When I go to sa.www4.irs.gov and check my refund status, all I'm seeing is "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available. For more information about processing delays, please see our Refund Frequently Asked Questions." The status shows my return as "Received" with a question mark next to it, but there's no "Approved" or "Refund Sent" status showing up yet - both of those also have question marks. I filed as Head of Household for Tax Year 2024 according to the "Your personal tax information" section at the bottom of the screen. I've been completely locked out of accessing my transcripts for years now, and I haven't received any letters from the IRS about this. The WMR tool just keeps showing the same message. They even note at the bottom that I should "continue to check here, or use our free mobile app, IRS2Go" and that "Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day." Is this normal for anyone else? I keep checking multiple times but getting nowhere. I'm at the screen that says "Refund Status Results" with the three status indicators (Return Received, Refund Approved, Refund Sent) all with question marks. Anyone know if there's an actual issue or if this is just typical processing time? The IRS website menu shows I'm at "Home / Refunds / Refund Status / Results" but I'm not getting any actual results.

The IRS "Where's My Refund" tool shows your 2024 return has been received but is still in the processing stage, with only the first progress bar filled. This matches what you're seeing with the "still being processed" message. For Head of Household filers, this status screen is quite common during the initial processing period. The key details from your screenshot are: - Only the "Return Received" checkpoint is marked - "Approved" and "Refund Sent" stages are still pending - System is specifically showing 2024 tax year - Head of Household filing status is confirmed in their system The once-per-day update notice is important - checking multiple times within the same day won't show new information. While the waiting can be frustrating, this status display is typical during the standard 21-day processing window. The absence of error codes or specific delay notifications on your WMR screen suggests your return is moving through normal processing channels rather than being flagged for review. Since you mentioned being unable to access transcripts, this WMR tool status is currently your best indicator of progress. The standard message referring to the FAQ page is automated and doesn't indicate any specific problems with your return.

•Thanks for explaining! Do you know how long it typically takes these days? Getting anxious 😅

•Usually 2-3 weeks for simple returns, but can take 4-8 weeks if there's any verification needed. Head of household status sometimes gets additional review.

Hey! You should check out taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes transcripts and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund. It costs $1 but totally worth it. I was in the dark about my refund until I used it. https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! It uses AI to break down every code and gives you a timeline prediction. Way better than guessing

Have you tried calling the IRS to get your transcript access restored? Sometimes they can verify your identity over the phone.
