Identity Verification Completed - Finally Got DDD (Transcript Updated but WMR Hasn't)
Filed and accepted 01/29/2024 then a few days later got the message to verify my identity and tax return info by waiting for a letter in the mail. After the 21 days passed, I called the IRS almost every day. On Feb. 26 a helpful agent took the time to process a verification letter to be sent to me. I received that letter on 03/08 and verified both on the phone and online that same day. Today I checked my transcripts and got my deposit date of 03/20! But the Where's My Refund tool still hasn't updated. Should I be concerned about this discrepancy? Is it normal for transcripts to update before WMR? Will this affect my direct deposit in any way?

The transcript update preceding WMR update is standard IRS processing sequence. Your 846 code with 03/20 date on transcript is the definitive indicator of scheduled refund issuance. WMR typically updates 24-72 hours after transcript changes appear. The verification hold (570 code) has clearly been released as evidenced by your DDD. No further action is needed on your part at this time.

I think I understand, but just to be sure - are you saying that the transcript is actually more reliable than the WMR tool? I always thought WMR was the official status tracker.

This is super helpful info! I've been checking the IRS2Go app constantly but maybe I should focus on transcripts instead? The IRS website says WMR is the official tool but sounds like transcripts are more up-to-date?

You need to monitor both your transcript AND bank account carefully now: • Transcript updates often occur 24-48 hours before WMR • DDD can sometimes be delayed by bank processing • Verification cases have higher rates of deposit issues • Check transcript again tomorrow to confirm no new codes I was in your exact situation last month. Used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained every code and confirmed my DDD was actually valid despite WMR not updating. Time is critical - if you don't see the deposit by 3/21, you'll need to take immediate action.

I went through this exact identity verification process last year. Called over 30 times and couldn't get through to anyone. The hold times were ridiculous - I once waited 2 hours before getting disconnected. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in under 20 minutes. They explained that identity verification cases need special handling and helped expedite my verification. When I had a follow-up question about my amended return a week later, I used them again rather than wasting another day on hold. The peace of mind was absolutely worth it.

Have u checked ur bank acct this AM? Sometimes they send $ earlier than the DDD. Also might wanna check if ur bank does early DD for govt payments. My CU posts IRS $ up to 2 days b4 official date. Worth a quick look IMO.

I'm in the same boat with identity verification and was wondering about early deposits too! My bank (Chase) sometimes gives me my paycheck early - does anyone know if they do the same thing with tax refunds? I'm literally checking my account every hour lol. Really need this money for car repairs.

Be cautious about celebrating prematurely. I've observed numerous cases where the 846 code appeared with a DDD but was subsequently reversed with a TC 841 Refund Cancelled code. This typically occurs when there's an offset intercept that wasn't initially captured during transcript generation. Identity verification cases have a 12.4% higher rate of secondary review flags in the Integrated Automation Technologies system. Monitor your transcript daily until the funds actually post to your account.

This is accurate. On March 2, 2024, I had an 846 code appear with a DDD of March 8, 2024. On March 5, 2024, a TC 841 appeared and my refund was delayed by exactly 14 days for additional verification. The IRS internal processing system requires a minimum 48-hour settlement period for all DDD codes to be considered finalized.

I had the exact same situation last month. Transcript showed DDD but WMR was stuck on "still processing." Got my money exactly on the date shown on my transcript. Don't waste money on tax advance loans or refund advances - you're getting your money in 5 days!

Oh my goodness, the IRS systems are so frustrating! Try calling the tax advocate service instead of the main IRS line. I was SHOCKED at how much faster I got through! The number is 877-777-4778 and they can actually see the same information as regular IRS agents. They helped me when I was stuck in verification limbo for weeks!

Transcript trumps WMR. Always. DDD is confirmed. WMR updates later. No need to worry. Tax cycle complete. Money coming on 3/20. Mark your calendar. Congrats on getting through verification.
