Filed Jan 2023, got 5071C, online ID verify not enough? Phone verification required?
Filed and accepted in January, got 5071C letter early Feb. Did online verification 2/8 but transcripts still N/A and account transcript blank. WMR changed from 'still processing' to 'being processed'. Called IRS today and was told online verification only verifies identity NOT the return - you have to call to verify the return itself! Agent said 2-3 weeks for updates, up to 9 weeks for refund after phone verification. Just wanted to share for others stuck after online verify.

This is correct. The online ID verify and phone return verify are two separate processes. Online only confirms your identity, while phone verification authenticates the actual return details. Once both are complete, processing can continue normally. Many people miss this crucial step.
