Lost IRS letter - How to get it resent?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I got an important letter from the IRS but I misplaced it. Now I need to get it resent. Has anyone gone through this before? What's the best way to handle this situation? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Zoe Gonzalez

Ugh, been there done that. It's such a pain when you lose important stuff like that. Here's what I did when I was in your shoes: 1. Call the IRS directly. Be prepared with your personal info (full name, SSN, etc.) 2. Explain the situation calmly. They deal with this stuff all the time. 3. Ask politely if they can resend the letter. 4. Be patient! It might take a while to get the new letter. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure you have a pen and paper ready to jot down any important info they give you during the call!

Lol true, their phone system is a nightmare. But once you get a human, they're usually pretty helpful.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

Pro tip: scan or take pictures of important documents as soon as you get them. Has saved my butt more times than I can count!

This! 💯 I use an app called CamScanner, makes it super easy to digitize everything.

Maybe try reaching out to your local congressperson's office? They sometimes have liaisons who can help with IRS issues.

This is actually great advice. My sister did this and got her issue resolved in like a week!
