IRS silent calls when trying to set up payment plan - any tips to reach a human?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble setting up my plan with the IRS. I've been trying to call them but I keep getting silent calls. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person?

Ugh, the IRS phone system is a nightmare! I've been there too. Have you tried calling at different times of the day? Sometimes early morning or late afternoon can be less busy.

Silent calls are the worst! It's like they're purposely trying to frustrate us. Have you tried using the IRS website to set up your plan? Sometimes you can do it online without having to call.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? No way, that's a scam 🚩

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho

•Can you give more details about how it works? I'm intrigued but cautious.

•Sure! You just enter the number you want them to call, pay the fee, and they handle the rest. When they get a human, your phone rings. Simple as that.

Have you tried faxing your request? Sometimes old school methods work better with government agencies lol

•Faxing? What year is it? 😂 But seriously, I might give that a shot if nothing else works.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call exactly at 7:00 AM when they open 2. Choose Spanish option (even if you don't speak it) 3. When you get a rep, politely ask to be transferred to English 4. Explain your situation calmly It's a bit sneaky, but I got through in 15 minutes using this method. Good luck!

•Isn't this kinda unethical tho? Taking up Spanish-speaking resources when you don't need them?

•I get where you're coming from, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The system is broken, we're just trying to navigate it.

Have you tried reaching out to your local congressperson's office? They sometimes have direct lines to IRS and can help expedite things.

OP, what kind of plan are you trying to set up? Might be able to give more specific advice if we know the details.

•It's a payment plan for some back taxes I owe. Nothing too complicated, I just need to speak to someone to finalize the details.

•Ah gotcha. Yeah, unfortunately those usually require talking to a human. Hang in there!

I feel your pain, OP. I've been trying to resolve an issue with them for MONTHS. The system is totally broken. Good luck, hope you get through soon!
