IRS Wage and Income Transcripts: Tips for Getting Them Mailed? Phone Queue Frustrations

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my Wage and Income transcripts from the IRS. Has anyone had any luck getting these mailed to them? I've been trying to reach someone on the phone but no luck so far. Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve IRS wage transcript request issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZhqZSjmEEQ

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The government should do better.

I know it sounds crazy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

I tried it and it worked, but still, $20 is a bit steep. I wish there were a free method that was just as effective.

I'm in the same boat as you, OP. Been trying to get my transcripts for weeks now. Starting to feel like I'm gonna need a ouija board to communicate with the IRS at this point 👻

LOL a ouija board might actually be faster at this point 😂

Careful what you wish for... knowing the IRS they'd probably charge you a "spiritual communication fee" or smthn 💀

Next thing you know, they'll have a 'hold' button on the ouija board too!

While Claimyr can be a helpful tool to bypass IRS phone queues, it's important to weigh the $20 cost against the urgency of your situation. For some, the time saved is worth every penny, but others might prefer to explore free options first, like requesting transcripts online or utilizing the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Each method has its own merits, and considering your specific circumstances can help in determining the most cost-effective and efficient strategy.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the IRS gods? I hear that works wonders 🐐🔮

Instructions unclear. Sacrificed my tax returns instead. Now what? 😅

Nah man, you gotta sacrifice your firstborn. Thats the only way to get the IRS to notice you 🤣

Maybe next time I'll try sacrificing my patience, seems like they feed off it!

Ugh, the IRS is such a mess rn. I had to wait on hold for like 3 hours last time I called. Maybe try calling right when they open? Good luck, you're gonna need it 🙄

This was the same for me too. It's like they have one person answering calls for the entire country!

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I'll give the online request a try first and see how that goes. If that doesn't work, I might have to bite the bullet and try that calling service. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Have you tried faxing your request? I know it sounds like we're back in the 90s, but sometimes old school methods work best with the IRS 🤷‍♀️

Good point! Sometimes the simplest solutions are overlooked. Worth a shot!

I feel your pain! I've been trying to get mine for weeks now. The IRS phone lines are a nightmare. Have you tried requesting them online through the IRS website? Sometimes that works faster than waiting for someone to pick up the phone.

I tried the online request too, but it was acting up. Maybe it's just high traffic? Worth a shot though!

Serious question: has anyone had any luck getting these transcripts through a tax professional or CPA? Wondering if it's worth paying someone to deal with this headache for me.

I used a CPA and it was pretty seamless. They have direct ways to request specific documents from the IRS.

My accountant got mine sorted out in no time. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're actually contacting the IRS and not some scam site. There's a lot of fake "IRS" sites out there trying to steal people's info. Always double-check the official IRS.gov site for the correct contact info.

Thanks for the reminder! It's easy to get caught off guard with all these scams.

Anyone else feel like we're living in the stone age? In 2023 and we still gotta jump through hoops just to get our own info. SMH 🤦‍♂️

For real tho. My grandma can figure out TikTok but the IRS can't figure out how to email a PDF? Make it make sense 🤡

Preach! 🙌 Its like they're purposely making it difficult. Conspiracy theory: maybe they dont want us to know our own wage info 🤔

Pro tip: If you're eligible, try contacting the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help push things through faster when you're having trouble with the IRS. Good luck!

Here's what worked for me to get my Wage and Income transcripts mailed: 1. Call the IRS early in the morning, right when they open. The number is 1-800-908-9946. 2. Have all your info ready: Social Security number, date of birth, filing status, and mailing address. 3. Be patient and polite with the rep - they deal with frustrated people all day. 4. Specify that you need the Wage and Income transcripts, not just the tax return transcript. 5. Ask them to verify your address before they send it out. 6. Write down the name of the person you spoke to and any confirmation number they give you. 7. They should mail it within 5-10 business days. If this doesn't work, you might need to fill out Form 4506-T and mail or fax it in. Hope this helps!

This is super helpful, thanks for sharing! Do you know if theres a limit to how many years back they can send?

Jenna Sloan

Glad it's helpful! I believe they can go back up to 10 years, but don't quote me on that. Might be worth asking when you call.
