IRS Wage Transcript, Account Transcript, and IP PIN: Tips for Getting Through?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my wage transcript, account transcript, and IP PIN from the IRS. Has anyone had any luck with this lately? I've been trying to get through on the phone for days but no luck. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve IRS transcript and PIN issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaZUzqGrFo0

Yall ever wonder if the IRS purposely makes this stuff difficult so we just give up and they can keep our money? 🤔 #conspiracy

Bruh, you might be onto something 👀

Let's not get carried away with conspiracy theories. The IRS is just underfunded and understaffed.

Try calling the IRS right when the lines open at 7 am. I've had better luck getting through at that time than any other.

I second this. It's early, but at least the chances of getting through are higher.

To add on to the Claimyr discussion, it's a unique service that serves a niche need. While $20 feels steep, if you're facing financial deadlines or need the IRS to resolve an issue, it might be justified. Still, it's regrettable that such third-party services are needed simply due to the lack of IRS resources.

Has anyone tried faxing their request? I heard that sometimes works faster than calling or using the website. Worth a shot maybe?

I've done the fax thing before. It worked surprisingly well for me! Just make sure you keep the confirmation page.

lol good luck getting anyone on the phone at the IRS. I swear they have like 2 people working there and neither of them answer calls 🤣

Anyone else think its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get our own information? The government needs to get its act together smh

Agreed. It's like there's a system in place but it barely functions.

For those of you worried about cost, check for IRS-sponsored free options in your area. Taxpayer Advocate Service might be able to help in some cases.

Great point! The Taxpayer Advocate Service can help if you're having trouble getting help through regular channels.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I'll try the website again and keep calling. Might consider that claimyr thing if I get really desperate. This whole process is so frustrating!

Hang in there, OP! We're all in the same boat. The system is broken, but we gotta keep trying.

Pro tip: if you do call, press 2 for Spanish even if you don't speak it. The wait times are usually shorter and most agents speak English too. 😉

One thing to consider is sending a written request via certified mail. It might take a while, but at least you have a proof of request.

Certified mail is a great idea, especially if you need a paper trail.

Hey OP, quick question - do you need the wage transcript for a specific reason? If it's for a loan application or something, sometimes the lender can request it directly from the IRS with your permission. Might save you some headache.

Thanks for asking! I actually need it for a mortgage application. I'll check with my lender to see if they can request it directly. That would be amazing if they could!

I feel your pain, OP. Have you tried using the 'Get Transcript' tool on the IRS website? Sometimes it works, but it can be hit or miss. Here's what I did to finally get mine: 1. Go to the IRS website early in the morning (like 6 AM) 2. Use the online tool to request your transcripts 3. If that doesn't work, keep calling the IRS hotline every hour 4. Be prepared with all your info (SSN, previous year's AGI, etc.) 5. If all else fails, you might need to visit a local IRS office in person It's a hassle, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

I find it helpful to use the IRS2Go app. It offers some basic functionality and might be more stable than the website for requesting transcripts.

Thanks for the tip! I've never tried the app but I'll download it now.

I've been trying to get my IP PIN for months now. The struggle is real. Solidarity, OP ✊

Getting a PIN shouldn't be more difficult than getting a bank card PIN, but here we are.

Ugh, good luck with that. I've been trying to get my transcripts for weeks now. The IRS website is a joke and the phone lines are always busy. It's like they don't want us to get our own information 🙄

I'm telling you, the real trick is to show up at your local IRS office right when they open. Bring donuts for the staff. Works every time 👌

Lmao, bribing the IRS with donuts. I love it 🍩🍩🍩

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/IDKN1SpQoEI

Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone at the IRS? That's crazy! Does it really work?

Ellie Lopez

Sounds like a scam to me. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency?

I know it sounds weird, but I swear it worked for me. I was skeptical too, but after wasting hours trying to get through, it was worth the $20 to me. Not saying everyone should do it, but it's an option if you're desperate.

Claimyr does sound like a lifesaver for those who really can't get through. But yeah, paying to talk to the IRS seems unfair. At least it gives you an extra option!

I think it depends on how much your time is worth. If you're losing money by being on hold, that $20 might be worth it.
