Need help getting 2020 tax wage info from IRS - Any tips?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get information on my 2020 tax wages but I'm having trouble. Has anyone had any luck getting this info from the IRS? I need to verify some employer names and wages from my 2020 tax transcript. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated!

Ugh, dealing with the IRS is always a nightmare. Have you tried accessing your transcript online through their website? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

Yeah, I tried that but the online system is giving me errors. It's so frustrating!

Oof, that sucks. Looks like you might have to bite the bullet and call them then. Good luck!

I had a similar issue last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call early in the morning, right when they open. 2. Have all your documents ready before the call. 3. Be super polite to the agent (even if you're frustrated). 4. If the first agent can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor. 5. Keep a log of who you talked to and when. It took me a few tries, but I finally got the info I needed. Hang in there!

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely try calling early tomorrow morning.

This is solid advice. I'd add: make sure you have plenty of time set aside for the call. You might be on hold for hours.

Have you considered reaching out to your previous employers directly? They might be able to provide you with W-2s or other wage information that could help.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the URL: https://www.claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

Check your local library or office supply store. They usually have fax services!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're stuck in the dark ages or something.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help with these issues and might have shorter wait times.
