IRS Verification Process - Tips and Advice Needed ASAP

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with IRS verification. Has anyone else gone through this process recently? What should I expect? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, IRS verification is such a pain. I went through it last year and it took forever. Make sure you have all your documents ready - they'll ask for everything under the sun. Good luck!

What kind of documents did they ask for? I'm about to start this process and I'm freaking out a bit

They wanted my W-2s, 1099s, bank statements, firstborn child... jk about the last one, but it felt like it! šŸ˜… Just gather everything tax-related from the last couple years and you should be good

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Here's what you need to know about IRS verification: • Be patient - it can take weeks or even months • Have all your tax documents from the last 3 years ready • They might ask for additional info, so respond promptly • Keep a record of all communication with the IRS • Consider getting professional help if it gets complicated Remember, everyone's situation is different, but these are the basics. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Do you know if there's a way to check the status of the verification process online?

Unfortunately, there's no online status checker for verification. You'll have to call them directly for updates. It's frustrating, I know šŸ˜•

Has anyone had success with the Taxpayer Advocate Service? I've heard they can help with verification issues, but I'm not sure how to get in touch with them.

I used them last year when I was in a similar boat. They were actually pretty helpful! You can find their contact info on the IRS website

Pro tip: if you can, try to schedule an in-person appointment at your local IRS office. Sometimes face-to-face interactions can speed things up.

This! šŸ’Æ I did this and got my issue resolved in one visit

How do you even schedule an appointment? Whenever I call, I just get stuck in phone tree hell

You gotta call early in the morning, like right when they open. It's a pain, but worth it if you can snag an appointment
