Ugh, IRS verification is such a pain. I went through it last year and it took forever. Make sure you have all your documents ready - they'll ask for everything under the sun. Good luck!

ā¢They wanted my W-2s, 1099s, bank statements, firstborn child... jk about the last one, but it felt like it! š Just gather everything tax-related from the last couple years and you should be good

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Here's what you need to know about IRS verification: ⢠Be patient - it can take weeks or even months ⢠Have all your tax documents from the last 3 years ready ⢠They might ask for additional info, so respond promptly ⢠Keep a record of all communication with the IRS ⢠Consider getting professional help if it gets complicated Remember, everyone's situation is different, but these are the basics. Hope this helps!

ā¢Thank you so much! This is really helpful. Do you know if there's a way to check the status of the verification process online?

ā¢Unfortunately, there's no online status checker for verification. You'll have to call them directly for updates. It's frustrating, I know š

Has anyone had success with the Taxpayer Advocate Service? I've heard they can help with verification issues, but I'm not sure how to get in touch with them.

ā¢I used them last year when I was in a similar boat. They were actually pretty helpful! You can find their contact info on the IRS website

Pro tip: if you can, try to schedule an in-person appointment at your local IRS office. Sometimes face-to-face interactions can speed things up.

ā¢How do you even schedule an appointment? Whenever I call, I just get stuck in phone tree hell

ā¢You gotta call early in the morning, like right when they open. It's a pain, but worth it if you can snag an appointment
