IRS Refund Hold: Code 570 but Date Moved Up - What's Next?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a refund hold from the IRS and could use some advice. My expected refund date was originally June 23rd, but now it's moved up to June 14th. That sounds good, right? But here's the thing - I still have a code 570 on my transcript. I've already uploaded my documents to that tax help website, but I'm not sure what to do next. Anyone else been through this? What should I expect when I finally get through to an IRS agent?

Code 570 is a pain in the ass, been there done that. It's basically the IRS saying "hold up, we need to double-check some stuff." Could be anything from verifying your income to checking your credits. Here's what I did: 1. Double-checked all my docs were correct 2. Called the IRS (took forever to get through) 3. Asked specifically about the 570 code and what they needed from me 4. Followed their instructions to the letter It sucks, but hang in there. At least your date moved up, that's a good sign!

•This is solid advice right here 👆 Especially the part about asking specifically about the 570 code. Don't let them give you some vague answer!

•Ugh, it took me like 3 days of constant redialing. I started calling right when they opened and just kept at it. It's a total crapshoot tho

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/UiAegRQ2Is8

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•Yeah, it actually does work. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate after trying for weeks. It's worth it if you value your time.

•I've heard of this! My cousin used it and said it saved her hours of frustration. Might have to give it a try myself.

Have you checked your transcript recently? Sometimes the codes update before the WMR tool. Also, a 570 followed by a 571 usually means they're about to release the refund.

•I checked yesterday and it was still showing 570. No 571 yet. Guess I'll keep checking and hope for the best!

Hey OP, quick question - did you claim any credits this year like EITC or ACTC? Those can trigger additional reviews and cause delays.

•Yeah, I did claim EITC actually. Didn't realize that could cause extra delays. Thanks for the info!

•No problem! Yeah, EITC claims often get extra scrutiny. It's annoying, but hang in there. Your refund will come eventually!

Has anyone else noticed that the IRS seems to be moving faster this year compared to last? Or am I just being optimistic?

Pro tip: if you do get through to an agent, be super nice to them. They deal with angry people all day and being friendly can sometimes get you better service. Also, ask for a direct number or extension if possible!

Hang in there @Kayla! The fact that your date moved up is actually a really positive sign - it means they're actively working on your case. Code 570 is frustrating but it's not uncommon, especially with EITC claims like you mentioned. Here's what I'd suggest: Keep checking your transcript every few days for that 571 code (release) that @Nora mentioned. In the meantime, make sure you have copies of all the documents you uploaded ready to go in case they need anything else. And if you do decide to call, try the trick @William mentioned about calling right when they open - I had success doing that around 7 AM. Good luck! 🤞
